ATV for hunting

Lots of good points here :D

I run a 2000 Honda 450 with a 2500Lb winch

straight axle and constant 4wd, yes its harder to steer and it rides rougher then the the bikes with independent rears but its a tough machine and tows moose just fine, I've also had 3 deer tied to the racks comming out of the bush no problems. :) well only problem was I had to sit on one of the deer :D

Size 300 is definately the minimum, and you really don't need much over 600.

:agree:

My Suzy Eiger 400 is a work horse for sure

Sure, if it's a Polaris :D
That's cause it's got too much power, unlike your Yamahas.:p:D I bought the Ranger today and will post a few pics when I get it home. They're installing a 4500# Warn winch, a 1/2 windshield and roof and I'll pick it up Thursday. My wife didn't notice the new Polaris Ranger hat I was wearing today.:runaway::D

As for gas mileage, my 800 and 400 Can Am's get about the same if ridden conservatively. If I'm going hard on my 800 then it drinks it.
The difference in ride between a solid axle and CV's, is like driving an old leaf spring 1-ton and a Cadillac.

The Yamaha Grizzly will own any Polaris ATV ;) Not to mention out last any Polaris :)... heck, they use plastic racks :dancingbanana: not to mention that I think they are pretty weak in the balls department vs their engine size.

Oh, and congrats on your Ranger, they are actually decent, but their atv's suck! :D

Oh Please, quit with the comments...I know you guys all want to own a Polaris some day.;):p:runaway:

I ended up getting this one with the black rims. I wanted all aluminum, but they didn't have any rims available. I must be old because I like the all aluminum compared to the black rims thing.

I think the Razor is around 50" wide and this one is 60" wide. The Razor is more sport orientated and this one is more utility. This one has a bench seat with 3 seat belts so it suits my family better. The top speed is 50MPH which is more than enough for me and my use. I'll probably put a cab on it somewhere down the road (many different styles available) and hopefully use it for Coyotes in the early fall/winter.

You got a nice machine KDX. I dont know if you can do it with the Polaris, but I know with the Rhinos they have an awesome extendable stand that goes on the top and raises up. I saw a Rhino at the sportsman show here last week that had one on it. Totally awesome idea!

good thing the rack on my griz 700 is steel or i mighta broke it last weekend. went over a steep little hill and some knob dug a big hole on the other side...landed straight down on the winch and flipped over the bars smashing my head on the rack. rack is now bent down almost 3/4" from my head hitting so hard. only the 2nd time ive been knocked out, even though it only lasted a few seconds.

if it werent for my motocross style helmet id still be laying there...

ALWAYS wear your buckets gentlemen;)
