Finally took the time to upload a very small video clip -taken with my digital camera- from the last moose hunt.

The ATV used, was a Honda 450. The guy in the front is helping with the steering, since there was a lot of "wheelies" involved in the drag. The area was strewn with rotting tree trunks and deep trenches, left over from the reforestation work. The bull has a 42" spread.

Cool! Would it have been too dangerous for the 'helper' to just sit on the front rack of the quad?

Good idea but we decided to err on the safe side...

Next time we'll bring a short length of braided cable instead of using rope. The rope was strung from the the "armpits" of the moose, underneath the ATV and tied to the front rack. The purpose was to resist the "wheelie" effect and worked pretty effectively. The only drawback was the fact that the rope was somewhat stretchy, I think that a cable would solve that problem.

We use chain instead of rope or cable and wrap it around the antlers of the moose and connect it under the chin. When you string the chain under the chin and low on the frame of the quad (less wheelie effect) and keep the lenght of chain as short as possible between the moose and the quad it keeps the chin up and keeps it from getting hung up.

Great video though, it almost makes it look too easy!
