Just seen in my local paper there is farm auction coming up. It is roughly 16 miles one way. There are a few guns listed with a very vague discription:
Savage 269 12gauge pump
22 cal bolt (French make)
Cooey 22 repeater
22 cal single shot (Russian make)
22 cal with clip (Russian make)

This is how the ad was posted. Like I said: very vague.
Not real interested in the shotgun, but what would a reasonable price be on the 22 cal`s saying they all operate and some what respectable?

Who knows, a guy might get them for a song???!!!!!!

Cooey's go for 50-150 in most auctions depending on condition.
I have snagged a few with minor imperfections for 50-75

I wouldn't go over 100 for the 22's > again take a peek for condition

I was offered some rusted cooeys for 10 bucks a pop which were more then worth it I just didn't have the time to do the work to bring them back to life. So depends what your looking for at the end of the day. Definitely can grab a steal though

I should have stated: The first initial drive would be about 25 minutes, then about 16 miles after that.
Can someone give me some Cooey model numbers that might be for respectable for a repeater....just so I know when I show up. It is on June 22nd which is a Friday. Hopefully alot of gun nutz are working since it is a week-day!!

Quite a few cooey models produced, something like 6 million were produced over the life of the company. And they were produced under other brand names too

60+ models if not mistaken

Common ones:
Model 60
64B
Model 600
Model 39
Cooey 75

as a farmer and gun dealer, I have always thought the best place to sell rusty
guns and such was farm sales, I have never seen one sell at a price that was reasonable, I have seen poor to average sell 150 -200.oo.
I f I tried to price them at a gun show like that , they would think I had lost
it.

The last farm auction i was at i saw a savage model 71 sell for $675 and a mosberg 500 sell for $475 i was like wait a second is the the EE farm auction.

"Farm guns" are generally treated with the same care and maintenance as an old axe. They're left in tractors, farm trucks, in the porch, in the barn. They are lubricated with dirt, and handled with the care of a tow chain.

You can go, but just be warned that they'll probably be in poor condition.

You said it with such poetic impact GM.

Used and ABUsed are synonymous with farm guns.

While you are there check out the "gun safe" or at least ask if you can see it?

Any auction I have been to lately that had guns brought prices that were way too high for most guns. The Cooey repeater will most likely be the model 60. It is pretty much the most common bolt action repeater they made. It could have a brand name such as Ranger or Sure Shot or Hiawatha but it will still be the model 60 with a different name. The early Cooey repeater before the model 60 just had Cooey Repeater on it. Some early repeaters had hand checkering. Average price for average condition is $100.00-$125.00, less for poor. It would have to be like new to bring more than $150.00. The only other Cooey repeater was the model 62 target gun. It had the Cooey peep sight and a hooded front sight. But the model 62 is not very common and could bring more money if in nice condition.
