Gotcha!!! Went to the range yesterday and had a great time, however I had a big belly laugh when this hen came strutting by. She walked-up the berms, across the 100 yard range, then gave me a stare of, "watcha look'in at?" I don't know if she was deaf, dumb or what however I think her hunger overcame her fear of humans and gunfire. Glad that I didn't forget my camera.

I've been to two different IPSC matches where deer came up on the berm forcing us all to stop. Always funny seeing grown men, all armed, yelling, jumping, throwing rocks and sticks and the deer just cropping grass ignoring everything. The last time we had to send someone up with a stick to poke it out of range.

There was a video last year, of some guys shooting .300win mags....

...and a baby doe comes right up and licks the shooter's hand...while shooting!

A tom and two hens were in my yard tonight. In range. At 1930!! That gobbler must be wearing a watch because they didn't come till after the 1900 no shoot time.

They know when and where they are safe, I'm sure of it.

I got my first spring turkey this year very easily.... it ran into the side of my car while I was driving. ... odd creatures... get them one on one in the woods and its a very different story...

I had a flock of geese land in the field while shooting trap at a club just before the Goose opener. Funny thing is I was only at the club that day to get one last practice shoot in to prepare for the goose opener! Didnt matter how many guys we shooting that day, those geese didnt want to leave the orange clay littered field. The range marshalls had to stop all shooting at all the trap and skeet fields so that they could send out all the kids to run the geese out of the area. The stupid birds would just fly up from one end of the club only to land on the other end. They just werent affraid to hang out amongst all the firing. If only that story held true a few days later on the actual goose hunt!

I was at a driving range a few years back... happened to be hitting an eight iron, had hit half a bucket with it working on a low, scooting draw, so I was in tune with the trajectory... as I was preparing to hit another shot I spotted a flock of geese flying my way from the end of the range... I teed up a ball and waited... just as they were approaching my balls intended flight path, I swung, the ball screamed upward and nailed one of the geese with a solid thud... it spiraled to the ground... and my first thought was "oh, crap!" I never thought that I would hit one... fortunately the bird shook it off and got airborne again... when I last saw it, it was trying to catch up with its buddies.

we had a black bear that would sleep behind the 200m berm in the sunshine, gunfire didn't scare it all but people walking up would send it running.was quite common before the range was redone.

Had a moose walk out between me and 100m target......the day before moose season a few years ago.

I had two RCMP do that years ago.

Fortunately I had just gotten there and my rifle was still unloaded and in the case but things would have been interesting in five or ten min.

I have no idea what they were doing behind the berm but no range lights were on and no cars in the parking lot. They had a total disregard for range rules, safety and etiquette. And yes I told them as much.

Same range I have seen deer, bear and an Elk.

I have had that same thing happen a few years ago, i was at the local gun club, everyone was shooting skeet, the turkey came in walking across the field to the pond in the back corner while guns were going off. The turkey didnt care and found it as a common sound, every sunday i was out there during turkey season it came to the club about 3:30 -4pm like clockwork. I was even able to get within 10 ft of it to see if it had a bierd. Had a very small one, i was gonna take it, but wasn't 100% sure if it had a very small bierd or just fluffed feathers. A buddy even ended up running after it to scare it off the road so i could get a shot but it took off. Still came back around for a few months every day about the same time. Kinda crazy how things like that end up happening.

Last summer I had a gopher pop up about 50 yards down the rimfire range, poor bugger

Had one here at the swf standing in the grass beside my bench i could have poked him with the barrel. Fumbled to reload the hmr but that wasn't working and he was trotting away so just used the already loaded 223 at 10 yards.
