Hello everyone.

looking for some advice or insight about Ausable conservation authority. I am currently looking at getting a hunting permit for this year, i am fairly new to hunting (been out a couple times with an outfitter for turkey and duck) but am trying to get out on my own and learn new things. I was just wondering if anyone has a permit for this area and any info about it (is it worth it). i have researched and know that they have specific boundaries that i must stay within while hunting. Is there specific parking that are to be used by hunters? also, has anyone who has a permit seen any turkeys?

Would appreciate any info you may have

Thanks

Nino

I drive past a couple parcels of their land on a semi daily basis, I haven't seen turkey's on those properties per say but I have seen flocks in adjacent fields. There was likely a small parking area at each spot at some point but I don't think anything is maintained anymore so I think you just park off a side road. As far as being worth it, if your coming from the gta, I guess that's up to you. Are there turkey in the area? Yes but there aren't so many that you trip on them, I usually see flocks of 6-9. Is there a lot of hunting pressure on the Ausable properties? For turkey, I don't think so. Since you mentioned duck, there is quite a bit of duck hunting done at the Hullet Marsh, in this area, you may even be able to hunt turkey there, not sure on that. Might be something else for you to check out. I've been there hiking but not hunting. Also, I believe you need a certain amount of personal liability insurance to get a permit at Ausable.
