I dont get why people push Marstar stuff on this forum. They dont even want to help donate to run it like deallers 1/10th there size.

Here for your convenience is a tidbit of helpful information from a CGN Moderator:

Guys, let's keep this civil. I'll delete any posts that aren't.

FYI, Marstar is a CGN contributing dealer now, so hotlinks to Marstar are fine.

(excerpt from this thread)

Shelldrake's observation is correct. From Shootout at the Ridge to Recondo Week, NSCC to EESA (and others) we've been supporting the shooting sports in Canada by sponsoring events and furnishing prizes often in the form of firearms - all at no cost to the events in question.

Plainly nobody can please everybody but I'd expect anyone who puts a completely newly manufactured 'Improved Enfield' on the market - which happens to be what many Canadian shooters have expressed a demand for over the last few years - to get attention particularly on CGN.

... but if you're THAT dead set against anything associated with Marstar (which in my opinion is more indicative of bias than those who are chatting about our products here) why not buy AIA from Wolverine? The choice is yours.

Hope this helps,

- Peter

Nobody's pushing anything, this is called a discussion. People are discussing this product, get a grip. I seem to remember just a few discussions about other products and other companies.

This is NOT an Enfield! Obviously the dead horse hasn't been beaten enough.
If you don't want one, don't buy one!

Man, all the comments about it not being a real Enfield action.;)

The "Enfield" part of Lee-Enfield refers to the rifling. It's a Lee action.

I should have been more clear, my bad. I meant that comparing prices between Milsurp enfields and these is like apples and oranges. :D Nice rifles have never been cheap. We shall see from the range reports, but I highly doubt they'd try to pawn them off as great rifles if they weren't. They tested them thoroughly, furthermore Wolverine as a highly regarded dealer here on CGN tends not to carry crap in their lineup.

personally I think its an intresting rifle with some intresting features .
Some I like and some I don't .
My biggest problem with it is its price point .
Whether you look at it as a milsurp , hunting rifle or whatever it has a lot of competition from a lot of different sources .
I'm suprised that a company could justify there time and expence to bring this product to market .
just my 2 cents .

These are not new arrivals on the world market, they have been available in the USA and Australia for quite a while now. They are a proven product on the target line and the hunting fields.

Those look pretty cool, and if I were in the market for a new hunting rifle I would definately be considering one of them, especially with the accessory pack being offered.

Cool product.

I remember reading an article on the Lee-Enfields on the surplus American markets a few years ago. I think maybe it was Gary Paul Johnston who wrote the article. In it he praised the Lee-Enfield for being such a great value considering the amount of milling and machining it took to produce. After consulting with several industry experts, he concluded that to produce the same rifle in present day dollars, the factory would have to sell them at the higher end of the mass produced hunting rifle spectrum. If I recall correctly, he estimated that it would cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of $800-$1000 I can't seem to find the article, but if I come across it, I'll scan and post it.

I thought the above comments were appropriate considering the fact that the rifles under discussion are completely NEW manufactured rifles. Trying to compare their pricing to 60-80-100 year old surplus Lee-Enfield rifles is like comparing apples and oranges.

Frankly, instead of #####ing and moaning about the price, we should be thanking the guys at Marstar for searching out another great product line for us GunNutz to take advantage of. Given the fact that Marstar offers us fantastic deals on Norinco firearms and other new/surplus lines that is often several hundred dollars cheaper than their competitors - when they could just as easily increase their prices to match other dealers - I'm sure Marstar is doing the best they can on the new Enfield pricing.

Would I prefer it if I could buy this rifle for $300? Damn straight! However, when you consider the fact that it is milled from high quality, modern steel, using western labour and technology, is then shipped halfway around the globe and all the red tape gone through to export them from Australia and import into Canada, there is a bottom line that has to be met. If your wallet can't cover it, then don't buy the rifle or start saving your pennies! Do that, or keep your eye out for a beater in the EE. It is your choice, no one is forcing you to purchase said rifle, so why all the pissing and moaning? I went back through all the related threads and there is ALWAYS someone #####ing! Gotta' say I'm sick of it! If you've got an axe to grind, find some other outlet!

This might be the one rifle!!

I am very tempted to drop the Norc M-305 as my one rifle for everything. I am on that eager waiting list but this rifle just droppped a bomb on me! The 7.62 x 51 just did it for me. Please, please, talk me out of it!!!

I never said Marstar doesnt donate to the shooting sports. Some people need reading classes. I said simply that Marstar doesnt donate to the forum, which now they do and I am glad to hear it.

Do I dislike Marstar? No, I simply stated the reasons why I wont be buying this particular item. I also dont engage in ass licking to stay in the good graces of any dealer. Though I thoroughly enjoy having my words distorted to make it look like I am trying to be an #######.

While its beautiful that people have shown interest in the rifle, I would venture to bet one in ten actually puts the money where there mouth is. The Canadian market is flooded with Enfield of all shape and colour and with penny pinching Canadian gun owners it will be interesting to see how many people do fork up the cash.

Scarecrow,

I'm assuming you aren't referring to my earlier post with the above comment?

Lets stick to the important part...how does this thing shoot? You can buy plastic and stainless for less no doubt but for this design,in full wood, brand new, I think thats reasonable. Can you mount a decent adjustable on the back? Can you use it for m/match shoots? These are the questions I have, not where should I buy it or can I get it at half the price.

Unless I find a No4 MkI* or MkII that just came out of the cosmoline, I think this just might be the route to go for me as a Service Rifle

And according to aiarms.ca, Wolverine is to be carrying them aswell....
