There seems to be a lot of confusion as to barrel length?

The Ausi site shows 24", MarStar shows 25.2", the US site shows 27"???

I would prefer an "L42" to have a 27-1/2" barrel.

I honestly have the feeling that I'll be buying one too unless someone says they suck...I can't wait to hear people's first hand impressions, especially about firing them, including feed reliability, accuracy etc.
 
As I said, It was an easy choice for me: from what I learnt about this rifle beforehand, if it's a nice shooter and reliable, it has 100% of stuff I wanted: chromed barrel, detachable mags, eats .308 and surplus 7.62x51, compact size. I don't enjoy cleaning conventional non-lined barrels and prefer low-maintenance rugged things.

Compact size? Which model did you order? I've heard they are a heavy beast...

Although unlike you I haven't seen one, I'm sure the wood is different since the receiver is much chunkier, barrel may be heavier etc...an original action would probably fall into the wood... :)
 
To clear up a bit of confusion:

These 'Improved Enfields'* are completely re-engineered, updated, modernized SMLE rifles. Anyone who has ever used any SMLE will be instantly familiar with operating the M10 rifles' actions inasmuch as these are not clones of the wartime rifles. Tons of improvements, refinements, etc. which have appeared in sporting and military rifles since WWII have been incorporated for increased accuracy, reliability, and ability to handle pressures generated by modern cartridges: see detailed explanations on www.aiarms.ca for further information.

- Anyone who likes the classic aesthetics of the No.4 SMLE will likely love the exotic wood and appeal of the 'full military' stock. This is the I wish someone made a nice new Lee Enfield but in .308 with chrome bore and full wood and removeable scope rail and practical headspacing and easily adjustable sights and free floating barrel and ... blahblah ... rifle.

- Anyone who wants a lighter, fast-handling and very accurate 7.62x51mm bolt rifle for hunting, backpacking, etc. may favour the B1 Sport. Note this is not a 'chopped rifle': it has a Monte Carlo stock w. cheek rest instead of the military type SMLE butt stock.

- The B2 Match does resemble the 'L42 Enforcer' rifle. Its 'HBAR' and fast-cycling Lee Enfield action should prove popular with long range shooters and those looking for a very accurate 'L4gery' at down-to-earth prices. Shouldn't be long before some of these are seen in private hands on the ol' firing line sporting some very nice glass ...

As for those awaiting reviews, I'm as eager as everyone else to see some third party reviews.

I was thinking of picking up the MK4 and chopping up the stock too!! Since the rifle will have a teak cheek piece, the freebie is pretty much useless with the sporter and the match, well maybe except for the magazine. Or are you going talking about the barrel?? All I know is that they have good iron sights, over 5 round mags, and a proven action. I need one!! I was going for the Norc M-305 but I realized that I can't shoot hard cast lead and slow velocity reloads with the gas ports. Bolt gun it is!!
 
Is it just me, or does the swivel right infront of the magazine look like it would be awkward and get in the way? Kind of sticks out a lot.

Also makes me nervous when buying from a small company like this when it comes to replacement parts, warranty etc... from the sounds of what I've read on gunboards on them, their CS isn't the best and their isnt a real company location to deal with... esp when savage makes such sweet bolt action rifles with exceptional customer service, and AFAIK they get repaired right here in canada

at least with the M305 pretty much all the parts are interchangeable with the M14..

They still do seem cool

I also think that swivel looks strange, but I've seen the very same thing on old No 1 mk 3 Enfields, I don't think the number 4 rifles had it though...not sure what it's for...anyway, they're just making it look like a real Lee Enfield, and I can't hold that against them.

1) That is a target type swivel, so you can mount your sling completely on the forestock ahead of the magazine. From what I understand, it's to maximize stability of employing a sling, without having the sling interfere or restrict the operation of the action: a neat feature to have as a standard accessory.

2) It seems to me that a lot of the problems State-side were caused by the American distributor 'Tristar'. From what I have read they were horrible to deal with, and had a bad relationship with AIA as well, which eventually led to the downfall of them being the distributor.

3) I think you brought up a good point which I hope Marstar/Wolverine will acknowledge, that a "replacement parts kit" be made available.

Importing firearms made in Vietnam in the US is a no-no just like importing Chinese firearms ( State Department Import Ban ). ;) The firearms that were shipped to the US in the first Batch to Tri-Star and Sabre Defence were marketed to them as Australian made just like they are agian with the new www.aiarms.ca page. I wouldnt blame Tri-Star for having a bad relationship with AIA for that. :)

The State Department shut the importation down when it was found they were made in Vietnam were Dealer Samples not retail products from what I've read ( Dealer Samples ). I think Tri-Star just wanted to recoupe some money so they sold off any of them they had on hand and then got ride of the AIA page from their site :)

You know these Enfields are nice as they are newly made and your not buying surplus 60 year old guns but AIA's marketing practises makes me wonder about just how "truthful" they are about their product. :confused:
