Have you seen one of these rifles yet? Handled it, fondled it?
I mean, really. Look on the market, at off the shelf .308 bolt rifles, and see what's there.
Browning A-bolt in .308. $719
Remington 700 Varminter $804
Ruger 77 $712
Remington Model 7 $812
Tikka T3 $999

Is $800 for a newly manufactured rifle out of line? (Especially when some of these rifles are out-sourced and built off-shore too?)
Obviously not.
Having handled several of these rifles (both M10s and No4Mk4s) I'm quite impressed with them. No, I have not fired one (yet) but based on my handling them, and looking at them pretty close up (had one torn down to nothing for me to look at) I am 100% impressed with these rifles.
So, who cares if AIA outsourced their manufacture? How many Enfields from wartime production had exactly the same thing done? I heard it said that there were over 250 subcontractors building Enfield Parts in WWII...probably more!
*sigh* No matter what, someone will always be unhappy with a product. It's mud slinging like this that turns importers off from serving those of us who ARE happy with products they bring in.
If you haven't been hands on with one, and are only going on what's been "said" on the internet, take a lesson from AR-15.com on their incident with Leitner Weise.
Get your hands on one, and if it isn't what you'd expect to pay $800 for, then send it back. I hear there's a guarantee on them.
Oh, yeah, and that guarantee's pretty damn good if you ask me. I've got a replacement pistol in the mail to me as I type this that's been covered by that same guarantee.

Wasnt trying to "Mud sling". I was just pointing out to nkdjames that Tri-Star wasnt in as much "fault" for the service/problems of AIA rifles in the US for the reasons I listed. 
It doesnt matter if they were made in Vietnam or anywhere else to me. The "newer" reveiws from Australia are good about their function.
Just need to get rid of paying for college so I can buy one. Maybe someday next year once I'm done school.

It appears you are correct. I was just going off what I had read about dealings with Tristar on American forums, that was quite a while ago though.
I find it kinda weird, the rifles from either country could not be legally imported here (canada) with a 10rd magazine, thus it follows that some 'design' and 'manufacture' changes have been made to allow their importation?!?!?
I have only seen a few, briefly... in a crowded room at the NSCC and they looked superb... what benifit would the two distributors gain from bringing in an inferior product?
Both distributors have a 100% customer satisfaction policy, albeit they are worded different but they are the same... they support and service what they sell.
Who cares where/why/when/what/who the hell is AIA... the consumer doesn't deal with AIA, they deal with the importer of these products....

They are not fly by night outfits.... kudos to AIA, for not choosing the big bidder...imagine what these would cost if Stoeg...FN...NorthS...RNichols... etc... was the importer..??

Why are people bashing a new product? As firearms owners we have enough enemies out there, there's no need to criticize each others choice of what to buy. Ordered a match version this morning. Going out to the shop and crack open my last batch of Lake City 1962 NM, dust off the chronograph, prep some Win. and Fed brass, and put the AIA Enfield through the wringer. Will report back.

For those who are about to get their hands on one, I'd like to hear about feed reliability too. A .303 with a good mag, feeds about 100% at high speed. I'm interested to hear about the new .308 and how well the action and feed system works.

.... Will the Parker Hale sights for the "original No.4 rifles" fit ? A simple two position "flip up" rear sight, seems inappropriate on Target rifle. If not, what other target, not scope,sight work ? I'd personally like to see some of the Range results from those that evidently use them in competition in Australia . The idea of a reliable bolt action in .308, that comes from the box and is competition ready, particularly the price on these, is certainly attractive ! Not that I have the money, unfortunately ! .... David K.
If you will allow me to get back to the question about the Auusie rifles for a moment. I asked a friend of mine who is a professional hunter in Australia what his impressions of these rifles. Dave is a guy who has spent his life as a pprofessional hunter. Here is a copy of his reply.

After sales service is like finding a honest Politition (it's there but you have to be lucky to find it !)"

Personally I have no real interest in the gun one way or another and I asked him for his opinion only because he knows rifles and these guns were purported to be made in Australia which I now find out they aren't.
