Austin & Halleck are closing their doors for good.Not sure what happened but they are selling their rifles at 50% off.Not sure who the Canadain dealers though.

I think that SIR used to carry their guns. I have heard thaeir quality seriously questioned on other boards.

According to their website austinhallech.com you should try the dealers first,and supposedly they are 50% off also. Wonder if and when it'll happen here.

They claim to be made in the U.S.A., but I believe they are made in Spain.

I paid $580 for my 420 about 4 months ago...now I've got to get replacement parts in case I lose/break something. My first muzzleloader...shoulda gone with the Omega.

I have one of their Hawken knock-offs.....I think they called it their "Mountain Rifle"......a .50 flintlock. I got it from SIR at 1/2 price a year or so ago because it had some rack marks. Even at half price, it is not worth the $$. It looks okay from 10 yards or so, but up close the stock shows sanding marks, the wood/metal fit is poor, the metal finish is poor and the lock is rinky-dink.....especially knowing the many fine locks that are available in the U.S.A.

I got one of the 1/2 price ones too and had some issues with it. They treated me very well, and even sent me a brand new rifle. The original one was very nice, but the replacement they sent me was a great looking rifle, and it worked pefectly. The problem I had with it was the weight. SIR claimed it was 7 1/2 lbs, but in fact it was 9 lbs, and I do not like heavy rifles, so I sold it.
