Australian Camel Culling

Even though it's considered culling, there should still be a responsibility to put them down ethically. Using FMJ and taking pot shots is a pretty sh!t thing to do

They don't look like FMJ to me, looks like they have an exposed lead tip. Although FMJ bullets obviously kill too. I'm not sure if "pot shots" is the correct way to describe his shooting either. He seems very effective to me. Lots of the animals you can see get hit go right down.

I think it's difficult for most of us that haven't done "culling" to put things into context. For most of us, culling would be shooting pests like rodents, gophers or crows or things like that.

which they are considered the same but at a bigger scale/size ... but as i ve seen with other comments we cannot stop to comment on other practices without knowing it ... thank you gatehouse to show us something different.

Don’t know why anyone would suffer such a POS rifle. Damn shame that the original camel jockeys weren’t still aboard their girl friends.

Lol...

The rifle does seem a POS but also off hand shooting at 100... 200, 300? yards is a bit of an art let alone when your puffing from running. Also, his barrel was getting hot enough that there is no way it was shooting to the same place it was when he started.

Frustrating watching him work the action. Then beat on the bolt. Then slam the butt on the ground. Over and over.

Some one else noticed this. He beats and hammers on the rifle. Other unanswered questions why's he driving with gloves on and even shooting with them on and a few other clothing problems.

OK, I will prepare to be flamed :
I could not watch the whole video - the guy is puffing and panting like a virgin on his wedding night. How about get a grip, get your #### together, calm down and shoot responsibly. It is not a difficult thing to accomplish.
Plus, I had no idea there were ANY camels in Australia!

They were brought there for transporting goods from ports then after the railway came in they got released and few turned into a lot

Watched another video of him dog baiting. Some sort of dried meat laced with poison? Tosses it in every bush he walks past.

Man these guys would have way more fun if they had better tools for the job lol

And for some more history on those feral camels.
Rich Oil Barron's in Saudi Arabia import camels from Australia to increase the bloodline from which these camels originated.
Also, there are a few entrepreneurs who capture camels and have created a camel dairy business.
There are some health benefits associated with these critters and yes there is also camel meat processors too .

Ate camel when traveling. Pretty good. Actually preferred kangaroo. One of the best wild meats I have ever had

Had Camel at the PNE once. It was a slider though, so it just tasted like charred ground meat. Would try it again though, it wasn't repulsive or anything.

Wonder what he meant when he said his Tikka 'swelled' after 20-30 rounds and wasn't usable.

I wondered the same thing. A CTR wouldn't be much heavier than that unreliable POS he was using and the ten round metal mags are reliable feeding. The heavier profile barrel would shrug off heat related accuracy issues much better as well.

In a nutshell, he couldn't have chosen a worse rifle for the task at hand.
