Australian International Arms possible come back

AIA rifles poor quality?

I have one and find the quality to be very high, much better than wartime made and issue Lee Enfields of any manufacturer.

Can anybody show a picture of a poor quality AIA rifle?

My impression from all who own them is that they shoot as well if not better that any other Lee Enfield type rifle.

The barrel on mine seems to be of excellent quality.

Some people it seems, expect them to be capable of setting records for accuracy!

They are after all copies of military battle rifles and are more than capable of very decent accuracy out to at least 800 meters for the 7.62/308 ones.

Also if they are so bad, why is it that most who own them want to keep them, and whenever they do come onto the EE they sell very quickly for close to what they were bought for.

What are you basing your comments on?

This no doubt. http://www.303british.com/id74.html Hardly looks like an excerpt from an official document to me. I'd like to see the actual document in its entirety if it's so readily available to the public. Otherwise I'm led to believe it's a load of tripe.

At the same time, I don't think the AIA is the gun the CF/Rangers are looking for, although for many different reasons. High enough quality could be one of them, but to keep things in perspective, the CF isn't rushing out to buy anything else on the market either. If such a document did exist it would be interesting to see what else didn't live up to the CF's requirements and why.

My AIA shoots better than most of my #4s.

Do you remember the Irish contract #4s that came new, wrapped in wax paper? The DND bought a wack of them as potential new rifles for the rangers. They still have them. 1300 rifles comes to mind.

I have no idea why they have not issued them.

I remember when these were available at Marstar. John sold them all quick. I regret not picking one up.

Not that quick. They sold out this year, and they came in around 2006. And given the way none of the out of stock parts (cheek rests, spare bolt parts) or model (B2) seem to have been re-stocked since the initial shipment, this may have been the last of that initial lot. - Especially plausible if AIA did in fact shut its doors for a period there as the Aussie board claims.

I thought there was a new shipment of these in 2011?

If they did, they didn't send any of the B2s or out of stock parts. Are you thinking of the 7.62x39 rifles that Wolverine brought in? IIRC, they (Wolverine) said it was a one-time shipment from Europe, so I imagine they picked up someone's over stocked or consignment lot instead of directly from AIA

Odd, for some reason this old thread appeared on the new threads list, but no one had posted?
Got my heart racing until I read the date. LOL.

Nevermind, figured it out. I somehow wound up looking at a members posts instead of new posts.
