Australian International Arms

No. They're very similar, but not the same. Small differences in the rear locking lug and they do not have the front lug hole that the M305 mag has. A M305 mag will not lock up in a M10, and vice versa.

I've tried.;)

No. The magazine is similar, but not identical. The 10 round magazines could not be imported if they were.

Magazine question

First with the 7.62 NATO rifles. The answer is no! Lets be very clear, the M14 mag could be modified to fit the AIA rifle but it would be prohibited if it held more than 5 rds. As the AIA mag was designed and manufactured for the AIA bolt action rifle there is no limit on the number of rds. it can hold, the square hole in the front of the body is missing so it will not fit into the M14. It appears there is a slight differance on the mag catch block as well.

Again with the 7.62 x 39 models the standard AK mag will not fit, a newly designed mag is provided.

If the AIA mag did just happen to fit an M14, wouldn't you still be able to use your >5 round AIA mag in the M14? AIA could sell alot of mags in Canada if that were true.

Yes. How much then are the AIA mags going to be selling for?

No.

The wording is (approximately) this: "designed manufactured for or adapted to function in a centrefire semi-automatic rifle" is a no-no if the magazine holds more than five rounds of rifle calibre ammunition.

Forgive me for stating the obvious but I can sense a 'storm' of controversy over this so I'll mention it: the M14 is neither designed to function with pistol mags nor chambered for pistol calibre ammunition.

This is an important distinction and the fact the aussie magazines will *not* lock into or function with an M14 rifle factored into the ruling on the AIA bolt action rifle magazines.
