Austrian Hertinberger Not too accurate?

I thought maybe the Austrian Hertinberger was a rifle I hadn't heard of and was all excited to read about it. Not so much now. :(

I have a Paker Hale that could only print 3 inch groups with it but with Winchester power max (red box) bullets are touching. Kind of weird. It shoots very well in everything else I shoot, Norinco M14, K98k etc.

I've only used one battle pack of 7.62 Hirtenberger, "With the NATO cross."
It was very pretty, and the groups were the largest I've ever seen from my M-14S. I never once missed the (Metric) target; IOW, very pretty s**t.
(I assume that the particular lot was of sub-standard quality.) Even the cheapest copper-washed Norinco s**t had groups that were smaller.

Yeah, same results here. Hirtenberger = not so good. Portuguese Surplus = much better.

It's just too bad that supplies of both have dried up. The days of $80 battle packs are long gone.

Never had problems with mine......

But... When I picked up mine at Districorp I noticed that my cases were Marked 7,62 MATCH, not 7,62 BALL :D:D

I guess was lucky

The Austrian stuff worked pretty good in my junk and I won a couple matches with it. HOWEVER the best stuff I ever used was the case of Australian surplus that I got my hands on back in 2005...*sigh* those were the days

The bullet runout was bad on all the Hirten stuff I had....take a round and roll it on the table and you will see what I mean. I think that contributed to the #### groups it would print. Great brass though, I used it to reload with and it lasts for a long time.
