Auto 20 guage preference

I have a Benelli Montefeltro Silver in 20g and love it. Very light to carry for hunting,5 1/2 lbs, hits where it’s pointed and patterns extremely well.

The SX-4 is a very reliable gun, if it fits you, it's great value for the money. But I also wonder why a 20 for trap, since a 12 gauge gas operated semi with 1 ounce loads, will have mild recoil.
I have an SX4 12 ga. It is amazing, almost no recoil for 6, 7.5 2 3/4 1 oz +

I have one in 12 that I have never shot. Inherited it from my father and, honestly, I have no recollection of him shooting it either.

Should probably rectify that one of these days.
They are good shotguns, the only problem is you need different barrels to shoot 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. I' m good though, my 20 has 2 barrels and I've got 3 barrels for my 2 12's.

I have not looked at 20ga ammo price for a long time, but I would think it's not a cheap as 12ga.
I had a 20 g over/under and it kicked me harder them most 12 ga I had, but its not a semi.

One fine day, about 8 years ago, Wholesale Sports had wood stocked Weatherby semi auto 12 and 20 on sale, so I bought one of each.

Have a Weatherby 28g and a Beretta 28 and find the Weatherby as good as the Beretta for a third of the price. Only thing is you have to change pistons to light loads when shooting skeet on the Weatherby. Side note just picked up the O/U Orion Weatherby in 20g and am impressed all the way around with it.

A "head's up" about the "change the piston" thing - I do not know how "light" loads and "heavy" loads are differentiated - there is a Weatherby branded semi-auto 12 gauge on the work table here - has a "light load" piston in it - lugs are sheared off the bolt - Weatherby warranty centre wants more than the used shotgun sells for, for a replacement bolt for it. The shotgun belongs to an acquaintance - of course, someone else borrowed it and fired whatever and the thing was returned to the owner not working - is what we found, so far. Read up on what "light loads" and "heavy loads" mean and act accordingly - most can not afford to fix it, when it breaks.

Well I would think light loads to be trap or skeet loads and upland or duck loads to be the heavier or power loads .I know way back in my reloading days the duck loads we built used a slower burning ball type powder and trap and skeet was quite different as well as the powder load was lighter.Don't know if that carries on in the new world or not.
