Grandpa has a belgian A5 in the 12 ga 3" configuration, and has someone interested in buying it, but doesn't want to give it away. Any shotgun nutz care to chime in and give me an approximate value to give to him. It is in pristine condition.

How it is choked will make a big difference. From $300 to $1500. I am guess from the fact it is chambered for 3" shells would make it a field gun, likely full choked. I have seen a few around $800.

The problem with old guns is that it is likely choked Full and not compatible with steel shot. A fixed full choke is also less desirable than choke tubes. Modern replacement barrels for the A5 are horrendously expensive. IMHO there just isn't the market like there used to be for these fantastic guns. Even $800 is going to be searching for a buyer for quite a while.

When I was trying to sell some of my Belgian A 5's I discovered that if the gun wasn't camo and chambered for 3 1/2" shells and had 10 different screw in chokes no body wanted it. Even my local dealer did not want to trade as in his words" nice guns but can't sell them" I kept mine and I am glad I did.

regards, Darryl

If it were 2-3/4" only he'd probably have a better chance to sell it to a clay shooter. But a 3" gun, with possibly a 30" or 32" barrel? Very limited market.

I know that you can have gun stretched out to Mod choke for the steel shot......as far as value you should be able to get 600 for it . If the guy is like myself and wants to use it for its place in history ..........

I own and have owned different Browning A5 shotguns over the years and I find them to be excellent shotguns. Unfortunately, the demand for them is limited and this is reflected in what you can get for them.

If I were to sell one like this one, I would start at $600 and be prepared to bargain. You might have to go as low as $400 to sell it.

Good luck!

It is not compatible with steel even if it is opened to a modified configuration they will sell for $300-to maybe $400 if you find someone who has a soft spot in there heart for them nice guns but not much demand .
