Hi all

I'm getting a bug in my bottom for an Auto 5. It will just be for trap shooting.

I'd like to have one with choke tubes, which I gather means a Japanese made one.

What's the market for the Miroku guns like, and what should I expect to pay for a VG one?

I would guess you'd be in the $600-800 neighbourhood for what you describe.

But if you're just using it for trap, a Full choke barreled gun would be cheaper and easier to find.

Thanks. I'm out of the game for a long time so am not quite sure if a full or modified is the way to go.

Perhaps I'll look for a nice old Belgian instead, then, at least for the short term.

There are those out there with poly chokes too, I know. Just don't know ought about them

Saw one sold at AACCA show in Calgary 19SEP2015 for $600. Japanese built; 26" with tubes. Really clean gun. I was going to buy it and went back for it too late.

I have a japanese auto 5 with a 30" full choke. Great trap gun...

Send a pm if interested...;)

The nicest Auto 5's were made by the Pine Company in Japan and sold as the Herters SL-18 starting back around 1968. The metal finish on these was excellent, the fore end was nylon capped at both ends to prevent the French walnut from splitting and the engraving on the receiver was actual engraving, not the rolled on type. I keep my eyes open fer one of these in good shape.

That said, if ye find a well kept Miroku with tubes for around 600.oo..grab 'er as they are nice.
