What are your preferences and what are the collector values of Auto 5's, Belgian vs Japanese. I have both and actually kinda prefer the Japanese made ones. Maybe they look a tiny little bit better because they are 25 years newer? No spider cracking in the finish on the Japanese made guns either.[auto 5's.jpg

Belgian for nostalgia and of course Japanese to fill the likes and wants....

I usually buy the Belgium Browning's, just because I was fortunate enough to buy them at a time when
they went out of style for some reason.
The Belgium A5's and the Safari Belgium FN/Swedish Sako model's all were sold by their owner's in the mid 1980's
Most of them were VG+++ to Mint because they were to nice to spend much time in the bush, I guess

I agree, not too many of those guns got shot out or miss handled from what I've seen.
 
A Belgian built Light Twelve with 26" plain barrel is actually a LIGHT 12. The Japan built Light Twelve is not. (still a fine firearm) I lucked into a late 1960's Light Twelve with a 26" plain barrel choked SKEET. I do not believe the barrel is original to the gun but it works great. I have a 1972 Magnum 12 that has the barrel cut to 26" and Colonial choke installed. A nice waterfowl gun. They are bullet proof and worth every penny.

65 mag 12 with hasting rifled barrel
69 mag 12 28" full
75 light 12 30" full
66 sweet 16 28" full (in the mail to me still)
90 sweet 16 26" invector choked
82 mag 20 28" full

They are all really nice guns, too bad they’ve become more collectible in recent years driving up the prices.

I can't post pictures but would be happy to send them to somebody that could.

I’ve had both Belgian and Japanese light twenty’s sitting beside each other for comparison. The Belgium gun had deeper engraving but everything else was above par on both. Now I only have the Belgium……
 
I have owned a dozen through the years all gauges Belgian and Japanese never shot them all that well nice guns but never could get to love them. Now with the current price not on my radar . But all said nice guns .

I love mine for what it is but i cant shoot an auto 5. Whenever i shoulder one all i see is the back of the receiver
