Auto Charge Powder Dispenser

Don't know about the others, but on the RCBS Chargemaster, you can change the programming to make it dispense quite a bit quicker. Also for small charges, adjust it so it doesn't overshoot.

I have a deal going on just the RCBS dispenser but it isn't the combo so it doesn't come with the 1500 scale....does the RCBS 2000 scale work with the dispenser as I read the 1500 isn't made any longer.Any idea where I can get a compatible scale ?

Have had the Hornady going on 2 years now - no issues, very happy with it, mostly used for for loading various pistol ammo and plinking grade .223

I have been using the Hornady for a while now as well with no real complaints. There's lots of info out there on how to adjust everything so it works better and the straw trick really helps with extruded powder. I did however just order a Chargemaster combo from Prophet River for $449 tax and shipping included on their spring sale. Couldn't resist the price so I'll be able to compare the two.

5 years running Hornady, the only thing thats worrying me is the key pad is starting to play up in last few months, sometimes i press back, zero or Enter and nothing happens. I have to power off and on again for the keys to start working.

Its always those 3 keys.

Was that recently?

I just had a look on Prophet Rivers site and couldn't find the Chargemaster

I have a Hornady unit. Bought about 3 years ago. No issues.

Major recommendation for all units though, is not to leave them plugged into the wall. It tends to break the units over time, for whatever reason.

My Hornady unit overcharges quite often. I only trust it to +/- 0.2. So I dial in a lower weight, dump the load into my 10/10 balance and trickle up to the mark. It is somewhat faster than using the 10/10 balance alone. I have the Hornady so that is how I use it. I am glad to hear that other brands have greater precision. I didn't read the reviews, I just trusted the brand name.

I have Lyman Gen 5 it is very easy to load with it ,some powders like varget needs more attention , it is fast by the time I sit a bullet it has another load ready.
cant say anything about other brands .

Yeah, Nachez seems to have the best price on them

I live relatively close to the US so could I get them to ship it to a collection centre just over the border (heard one of my buddies talking about this) where I could drive down and pick it up?

If I do this how does import duty work? From memory someone on here mentioned you can bring back up to $800 worth with no duty - anyone know if this is accurate?

I`m trying to decide if its financially worth doing this instead of shipping it right to my door (duties vs fuel)

If you just go over, pick it up and return with your stuff the taxes will be based on the value of the order, and at the discretion of the border agent. Most times its still well worth it.
If its shipped to your door you may end up paying brokerage charges in the $40.00 price range, which usually make it not worth doing.

had a chargemaster and sold it. +- .1 isnt good enough for my rifle reloading.
I now hand trickle on a gempro 250.
If I had to buy another auto unit, it would be an AND fx120I with the autotrickler v2. But I don't have 1000$ to spend on a scale these days so I just keep the gempro and hand trickle.
