Auto Ordinance M1 carbine Review

If I'd ever seen one of these, I'd definitely look hard at buying one. The odd thing about the Carbine (from a Canadian perspective, of course) is that probably the most useful, useable rifle available is restricted to the range.

Did I mention that this one is Non-Restricted?

Auto ordinance m1 carbine is a fantastic piece of kit I have personally but easily 500 rounds through mine (got it the other month) and have not had a single issue no FTf or fte it's a fantastic buy I can't wait to slaughter some gophers

I got one of the new NR carbines a few months ago, did a short review in the general forum. The gun is great. It's fun and relatively cheap to shoot, it's accurate, and the stock on mine is just too nice to simply use it as a truck gun. I initially had trouble with fail to feed, mostly with the 5-10 mags that I bought at the same time. A bit of fidling around with needle nose pliers on the mag lips got it fixed. I essentially modified the angle of the magasines to match the ones on the 5 round mag that came with the carbine. It takes a bit of time to really match the angles, etc, but now they feed flawlessly.

picked one up today, gotta say it took me way wayyyy back to the 144$ rockola I bought from SIR when I was about 16. sure has the right look and feel. beautiful wood, needed a bit of BLO but that's it. stripped it and checked it out, oiled it and off to the range. 100 rounds of SB FMJ, 8 failure to feed right off. aftermarket 5/15s didn't like the gun. stretched the very very weak spring and that's all it took. very very happy with the accuracy and feel. gotta say after I read the reviews they much have ironed out the probs cause this one has great fit and finish. very very happy so glad I bought it. only one thing I wish they had included an oiler, and maybe a sling, oh well, on the hunt for them now

I read that there is an M1 in 22.cal, copy not erma. they also will be making it in 45 acp. in the spring of 2013.I can not rember the maker. I think this will be alot of fun to shoot.

Any of you guys hunt deer with them ? I was thinking about getting one for some of the thick brush where we hunt in Eastern Ontario. While my .308 is great, I want something a bit smaller, with semi-auto.

I spent a good bit of time getting my 43 Underwood ready for deer this fall and then had a back injury that kept me out of hunting all fall.

i wouldn't hunt deer with the .30 cal carbine it has very little penetration .....its fun to shoot but never meant for large game animals ...remember the original idea was for it to replace a handgun ..i used it on ground hogs it was useless for them as well ...

Respectfully, If your not killing ground hogs with a carbine, good hits, not power is your problem.
This particullar carbine shoots fairly well, with the 4-12 scope, and a new 19" non-restricted barrel on it, it continually shoots under 2" groups. I realize a .30 carbine won't be a long range outfit but out to 100 yrds or so, I would have a lot of confidence in using it. It's a .30 bullet that is only 200 fps slower than a lot of 30-30 ammo is loaded too and tens of thousands of deer have been killed with a 30-30.

A 7.62x25 with a .308 diameter 86gr bullet will defeat threat level III body armor and 12" of ballistic gel @ 1600fps.With SP's in either Tokarev or .30 mauser it was a proven manstopper with over 500ft lbs.How can a .30 carbine with 110gr @ 2100fps be ineffective?
