Auto Ordnance .45

I was at my local shop and saw that they had just started carrying the Auto Ordnance 1911 A1 .45 It looks like a nice, well-made piece and cheaper than the SA's(which burns me, as I bought one last year from the same shop!). Does anyone out there have one and would you recommend it?

This was brought up before here. The consensus is the quality improved once the company was bought out by Kahr.

Is there any way to tell if Khar made the gun? Markings or something?

In that price range, I'd shell out the extra couple of bucks and bag an STI Spartan (just over $700 MSRP).

Check it out - you'll find that you get more for your money with a Spartan.

As for the AO .45, I posted a thread identical to yours a little while back - look it up via my name. The responders basically all told me to spend a little more and get a better gun.

On the question, all of the new Auto-Ords are via the new company. The POS ones seemed to be from the previous era ~circa 10 years ago.

If I was getting one of these new ones it would go straight to Gunnar at Armco for a 'tune'.

I agree about chipping in a few more bucks and getting the econo STI pistol.
