Hi everyone,

I've done a lot of reading about the problems with the Auto-Ordnance M1 Carbine. Including: poor manufacture, finishing, cast receiver, failure to fire. I like the history, cartridge and design associated with the carbine and would like a non-restricted version. Are there other options currently available and what is the quality like on other makes?

Pictures and discussion regarding your favourite version is welcome. :)

I would try to find a usgi m1 carbine with a non restricted barrel on it
That would be the one to get. Once in a while they come up for sale on the EE

There is one at Gobles in London. Someone redid the stock. It looked pretty nice. It had a heat shield on the top. Can't remember the price. But knowing Gobles it will be overpriced a little.

This ^ . A rebarreled original won't cost much more than an Auto Ordnance , but it will run a lot better and parts are available . I've owned a few M1 Carbines over the years , great little rifles . I've shot a few of the Auto Ordnance copies , they're not bad , but I still prefer a issue rifle .
