Folding stock, 18.5" barrel. Non-restricted. Anyone seen these? I just noticed Cabelas is carrying them for $1069.00. Looks very cool. I'd post a link, but I believe we are not supposed to.

I have one of the Auto-Ord/Kahr branded M1 Paratrooper re-issue rifles and it is bang-on (no pun intended) for authenticity. Better yet, mine was zero'ed for 50m right out of the box and has yet to have a stoppage other than an empty magazine. Mine is an excellent plinker. I highly recommend based on my sample of 1.

mixed reviews on these some guys have nothing but feed problems

on GI carbines its almost always mags Or recoil spring

usgi mags are the way to go IF you can find them

Tons of feed problems with both of my para models. Couldn't do more than 3 rounds in a row and the last round 100% would not feed. Had to do lots of fiddling and the only actually fix was to purchase and hand fit surplus M2 mag catches.

North Sylva was ####ing useless for warranty. Wanted me to ship it back to likely be fitted with another incredibly out of spec mag latch. Difference between OEM and surplus was as high as 0.025" leading to the bolt not picking up the next round properly.

They are otherwise well made and pretty accurate though. Just very frustrating if you get a lemon, which seems to be common. I would also recommend against USGI mags unless you are ok with replacing the spring. RW&B and even horrible KCI make good aftermarket mags. I have a few dozen of each with no issues.

I had a auto ordnance normal stock carbine. Nothing but problems till I swapped in a Military carbine trigger housing and parts. Ran fine after. Problem was magazine position and movement of mag in the housing itself.

I had the para tropper one, the only issues I had was the pistol grip coming loose.... A dab of wood glue solved that.

The mag issue with AO m1s is an easyfix....95% of the time it can be fixed with a USGI mag catch... less then $20 available at marstar.

Some of the 15 rounds mags sit to low on the AO mag catch the 30 rd KCI ones are usualy pretty good.

I took some photos of how little it takes to cause stove pipes, like 10 thou of an inch.

For the record, this inst just an auto ordance issue. It has always been an issue with M1 carbines, even in WW2 they were throwing away mags weekly, as soon as the little tabs get worn they cause stove pipes while feeding.
If you're one of those people that use the magazine as a mono pod, and you bring that habit to the m1 carbine platform, get ready to spend a lot on new magazines and often.

Yes I did mag catch swap first, but no change. On the Auto Ord trigger housing the machined area for the mag catch was to loose causeing the magazine to sit to low and to much rocking motion. Same thing I have experienced on the Plainfield and Universal cast trigger housings. And as always your experience may vary.

I havent shot mine enough to say for sure, but so far my para has been okay.
The folder isnt as stiff as Id like, despite tghtening screws as much as i can.
Can be quite accurate if the forward band is tight, but it loosens as you shoot....you can loctite it, but that will interfere with take down and cleaning

My folder locks up so tight it can't be used if I bury the screws. Are you sure they are tight? Also odd that your band loosens. I have about 400 rounds through mine since last teardown and it's as tight as it was when I put it back together.

Iam interested in one of these, but wondering if they will be on the Liberal ban list ??

It's got pretty good potential as its a semi auto with detachable magazine. Could go restricted or prohib. There's some prohibs I wish I had bought when I had the opportunity, and one that I sold I really regret.
