Well I think Ive decided what my first handgun is going to be. Auto-Ordnance Thompson Custom 1911. Was wondering what your thoughts are on the gun? The good the bad and the ugly. Thanks in advance

No!
Mine had a sight fell off issue, try to get any service, impossible and ridiculous..
Attractive firearm, yes, but my next pistol will be a Colt.

AO 1911s are now made by Kahr and my experience with Kahr is completely positive. I asked the Kahr Techs and they told me their 1911 products are very good. I would not hesitate to try one of these 1911s. Why? I love inexpensive pistols that work well. Regards, Richard :)

I'm sure they are ok...but I'd throw in another $400 and get a COLT Government Model .45

My first 1911 was a Series 70 Colt Government; it looked beautiful but it was a POS. Yes, it was built on Monday using Friday's parts. My next 1911 was a $210 Norinco and it was flawless. Regards, Richard:)

PS Forest Gump's mother was right: "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

Auto-Ord 1911's

Pre Kahr ownership they were dogdy on quality and function. Had one of those, NIB, and it was a POS.

Post Kahr the reports are that they are pretty good value for the money. I was all set to pick up one of the new GI models until I saw they have the firing pin block safety junk in 'em...... :(
