Auto powder thrower

They're okay...I had one and used it for a while before selling it and buying a Lyman Gen 6 which, in my opinion, is better. That said, at that price it's a decent buy.

The Hornady caused me no end of frustration when it came to extruded powder; it overcharged constantly. The Gen 6's screw-in adaptor makes extruded powder throwing as reliable as ball or flake.

I've used both the Hornady and the Lyman, and in my experience they both need to be watched and given TLC. I prefer the Lyman, and what I find works best is to set it .5 gr short of the desired charge, and trickle the last bit in. The accuracy is also dependent on the size and type of grain of powder (fine ball powders are easier and more accurate to dispense. Could not live without mine.

Leave your cell phone on the other side of the room when using any digital scale, I found my old Lyman was very sensitive to it and my RCBS to be much less sensitive. Same goes for fluorescent lights, some are more sensitive than others.

Or Cabelas has the Gen 6 on for $199 with free shipping (code gift). It’s easy cancel your order on Amazon.

Looks like a super great deal. Do you have one? If so, how do you like it? The hornady seems like complete garbage, even the video from hornady keeps overcharging, and the rcbs seems to be almost 100% reliable.

Really? I get maybe 2% of throws as overcharges - if that -with H4895 and IMR 4831. I only use it to make hunting and plinking ammo though, anything else I weigh out on a gem pro and/or 505. I don't even bother with the LnL for ball powder, I just throw that though a measure which is much faster and just as accurate.

I found my $20 Lee powder thrower threw Varget better than the Hornady. H4831SC was nothing short (har har) of a pain in the rear. Other extruded were marginally better. Perhaps I got a bum one. Worked fine with ball though.

If your looking for an automated system look into an AutoThrow and AutoTrickler setup for an A&D FX120i you won't regret it.

100%. System is superb, the warranty on the A&D is solid but....... wait for it...... it is fracken EXpEnSIvE.

I like the RCBS's green machine, they are well made machine, only required a small McDonald's straw mod, cost me nothing but throwing the VARGET very consistently especially when you need 43.4 or 43.5 gr or something like that.

You will need a few of those auto powder thrower otherwise the most boring part of reloading is filling up all the case. I have 2 of them running at the same time, it's load faster so you can shoot more.

I find it beyond offensive that throwers are still being sold that need to be fixed by the end user out of the box in order to throw extruded properly. Extruded has been around for decades and most of these machines are relatively new. At least the Lyman includes an attachment that allows you to throw stick powder without issue.

Yes the A&D and Autotrickler is expensive but if your serious about precision shooting or you compete you will probably end up with them anyway. Everyone has different budget so work with what you can

Yes, it's 1300 $ in Canadian. I can buy 4 RCBS chargemaster from US.

A&D and autotrickler is fast, i wouldn't see why i'd need 4x chargemasters instead.
While trickling my next load i am seating a bullet...

Got a Lee challenger press (for small size) on powdering table, i can seat as i charge
