Hi, I am curious to know about the automag pistols. These are chambered in the .30 carbine calibre. How reliable were they? What is the value of these? How common are they?

Would make a nice match to a m1 carbine.

I checked GunsAmerica and the prices are around $2,000(US). There is a steal posted there, a like new WILDEY STANDARD 45 WINCHESTER MAGNUM STAINLESS for $1,150 (US). I hope this helps. Regards, Richard :D

Just off the top of my head, I think that you are talking about two different guns. The .30 Carbine Automag III was made by AMT IIRC. It should be a little cheaper than the .44 Automag.

The original Jurras made Automags came mostly in 44AMP and 357Amp, not to be confused with 44 or 357 mag that revolvers shoot, if memory serves there was also a 41 AMP but I have never seen it. I have both the 357 and 44 Automag pistols, they are fairly reliable with factory ammo ( which is near impossible to get now) and not so reliable with made up ammo, feeding issues are common. To make ammo I have found 30-06 cases cut down and formed work better than 308 , I don't know why, but the 06s work better and last longer, it is time consuming to cut the cases down inside ream them then form them just to get raw brass. They are very fussy guns about the loads as well. $2000.00 US would be about what 1 in fair to good condition is worth, parts are nonexistant, so I shoot mine very seldom. I prefer my Eagle in 44, much better operating gun

Automag Pistols

Hey Soldier! I finally got the paperwork to bring mine home....

..had a bit of a polishing job done on the bearing surfaces, its practically B/N, only had three or four boxes through it. EnergyBoss isn't kidding, very loud...big flash....

....so far, absolutely reliable, even tried rapid fire.....as for pricing, can't find anything listed anywhere, but saw one go on E-bay for about $800 American with only one mag.

The big trick so far is to find .30 carbine ammo for less than $25 a box... :(

Not a bad companion to a Carbine, but the grip takes a bit of getting used to..a wee bit long front to back. Absolute ball to shoot.....

Considering that AMT parts are very hard to get and there is no service for them there value has not gone up. They are not rare. They are finicky and are known to have feed problems. The one I had a couple of years ago took over six months to get shooting properly. I was happy to get $700 for it.
