Automatic Pistol Cartridges in Revolvers ?

[/IMG]I just picked up a S&W 610 recently. Shoots .40S&W and 10mm through the same cylinder with moon clips. It has not seen 10mm at all. Apparently factory 10mm does not exist in Canada in any kind of quantity! I don't even own one round of 10mm!!

Mind if I ask where you went to get such a nice revolver. Very nice.......and I'm already set up for .40 S&W

Why is that?

The regular steel cylinders are fairly soft, the more they rotate at speed the harder the cylinder stop slams into the cylinder notch which slowly over time causes peening, wears out the cylinder stop and can also cause timing issues.
The Titanium cylinder being harder can take more abuse over a longer period of time.

Yes the problem is the barrel diameter. Sizing the 9MM bullets .358 will work if you cast your own. I size all my 9MM cast .357 and they load and shoot well. The cartridges should still be ok if the bullets were sized .358.

Take Care

Bob

Or shoot plated bullets in the 9mm. Mine has decent accuracy with them. I'm getting out of casting pistol bullets. The time invested for the volume needed makes commercial cast or plated a better option for me. I just cast rifle stuff now.

625 in 45ACP 3" Note that the moonclips are plastic. No tools required.

Just like mine, except for the barrel length as I am deemed unworthy to own such a murderous device, which could be stuck in a coat pocket and used to divest the local Tim Horton's of their doughnut holes against their will. How you have resisted such an urge I can't imagine...

Those RIMZ polymer clips are nice. I'd like to get one of these for loading the steel ones. Won't ship out of the US.

I got the 610 on a trade. I don't believe they are made anymore. Mine is the original 5" no dash version which was only available for one year around 1990. Later ones all had 6.5" barrels in Canada.

There are various models of the S&W 25, not all are chambered in .45ACP, most are in .45 Colt as far as I know. The .45ACP model is rare and expensive in my experience.

S&W is making them again with their new classic line of revolvers.

Ok, good info. Thanks

I have a Uberti 1875 Outlaw in 45 Colt. I bought this from Ellwood Epps a few years ago. One day I saw a cylinder for 45 ACP for this model on EE. Bought it. 45ACP vs 45 Colt price differential substantial.

25-2 in 45 ACP. And I would say that for every 4 you find in 45 Auto you would find maybe one in 45 LC up here.

"Rare" another overused word.

Got a Brazilian too.

Good to see this thread today. I was shooting my GP on the wknd and fell out of love with the semi...which means I need a revolver for all of the 9mm ammo. Time to do some more research.

I am getting the revolver bug this winter :) Have a .357 S&W 66-8 on the way once the transfer is complete. Might need a 44mag in the spring too ;)

9mm S&W 929 Jerry Miculek(top), 45ACP S&W 625 Performance Center(bottom) ….my semi's aren't getting fed much lately:)

My Dad had a Ruger Blackhawk with the 9mm & 38 Spl /357 Magnum cyclinders. It is now melted after the UK handgun ban (so my memories are a bit dated). I remember the 9mm being fun as we used to shoot ex-UK Military 9mm rounds which were very hot as they were used in the Hi power and the Sterling SMG. They were a poor mans 357!

I have owned a number of S&W 547s, a S&W 940 and a few Ruger Speed Sixes all in 9mm. All of them have been very good shooters. I prefer the 547s as they do not require moon clips. The others can be fired without moon clips but extracting the cases is slow. At one time Astra made the Barracuda with two cylinders, one for .357 and one for 9 mm.
