Has anyone tried this autotrickler with the analytical balance? It's pricey but if you do a lot of reloading it could be a game changer especially for precision reloaders.

Prepping and loading for the Nationals was the last straw... I got it when I came home.

Now all the powder charges are simple, fast and I don't need to muck about as a trickler.... the time saved alone buys this unit.

Jerry : which scale are you using it with and where did you get the scale from?

I was doing some research and what to do, and found this on the Shooter's Forum in the US. I was thinking of going with the AD FX 120i but haven't bought anything yet. I think a place out east sells the scale.

RCBS Chargemaster is what I use, no problems and great product support.

This fellow has a good idea but a very expensive one and not so great of a time saver since you have to manually handle powder to speed things up along.
Investing in these propriatary gadgets leaves one out in the cold one day without support or spare parts IMO.
Something like the RCBS Chargemaster is half the price and you don't have to sit there and pour powder.
I would go back to trickling my own powder with my beam scale if I couldn't save time with such an expensive purchase.
IMHO

You are comparing the abacus to the science calculator. :D
If I had the money I would purchased it in a second and yes I do own a CM1500.

AND FX 120-i... Cambridge Environmental in ON.

For those that are enjoying their Chargemasters, excellent. Just confirm the scale actually gives you the output it reads.... and that is where the problem lies with most reloading scales. What you see is not what you get.

As for speed, I really don't think any other auto dispenser is going to be as quick. The reason to put in a scoop of powder is to get near the target mass fast. You can let the machine dispense everything but I don't see the point.

It is cutting the time of powder charging well under 1/2 and so much more enjoyable.

Very expensive combo but it is an investment.... as are all the tools I have mechanised to speed up my reloading process.

I would agree with you in most cases. I shoot f class competitions so you really need to be accurate. If I wasn't doing that, then I would probably go with the chargemaster as well. I was surprised how many people PM'd me who own this combination to tell me how great it is, and they have owned this for years.

Let's compare then.

What advantage does it have over your CM, is there a speed or accuracy advantage?
cereal83 said that this is a $1000 setup, is this true?

Simple test... measure out 10 to 20 charges from your CM and put those charges onto a FX120i (or similar Santorius) and see if the value dispensed is actually the mass in the pan. If your CM is accurate to the same 0.1gr, you have a good one and enjoy.

The ones we have tested weren't and they varied alot.

So if you have one that is irregular, there is no comparison because this system is not good enough for LR precision work.... not for competition anyways.

Jerry is a 1000% right here.

This is comparing apples to dump trucks.

The accuracy is not even comparable.

That being said the chargemaster is perfect for the vast majority of shooters.

If you've contemplated accuracy improvements like meplat trimming and tipping then the chargemaster is allready in your rear view mirror anyway.

For a starter;

FX-120i accuracy = +/- 0.02 grains.
Sartorius Entris64-1S accuracy = +/- 0.002 grains.

I believe CM1500 accuracy = +/- 0.1 grains.

I can't speak for the speed because I don't own FX-120 or Sartorius or Automatic Trickler (A.T). :(*

Another thing I like about the A.T is that it is made by a Canadian.
You are right the system setup is stupid expensive and not really needed for the vast majority of shooters.

Cheers,

Some vary more then that and every now and then, you get a zinger which is really going to screw up your load tuning.

I use a Lyman, and i feel the same as Bigbull.
when I first watched the video, I had the sound off, and thought the set up looked "hokey". Then I read through the posts on here and everyone says how superior this system is.
I dont shoot Fclass, I dont even compete for that matter. But if I enter a number for it to dispense, thats what I get.
If I ask for 58.8gr, I get 58.8gr
I think there are more environmental factors and human factors that would effect a shot than +/- .02gr
