I sold one of these and am considering replacing it, or possibly buying a new High Power Standard for around $1000. What is the going availability and price picture on Mint Canadian Inglis Brownings with fixed sights?

Are you asking 'mint' as in collector grade to put away in the safe or something you're looking to shoot?

If you're looking for collector grade do you want it to have some original decal left or the original box?

Your question is a bit broad to give an accurate answer -- and of course the asking prices on the EE are not always a good indication.

The EE should have a live graphic rating system by voting of a current EE ad for the asking price that varies from gong show (top dollar X5), rip off, average, and fair pricing so people don't get the shaft!

I just wanted to get an idea of availability and cost on a shooter in nice shape-no rust and good barrel, but decal is immaterial to me.

That isn't what you typed in your OP. If all you want is a shooter, buy a used later model. I haven't seen a decent Inglis P35 go for less than a thousand over the last couple of years unless the bores are washed out and there is a lot of shiny metal showing or some rust pits, like those that were on the Chinese P35s that came into Canada 30 years ago.

Then of course you have to figure out which model you want. MkI or MkII

Century Arms and Lever Arms brought in the best original condition Inglis high powers. Century's from Europe and Lever's
from Greece. The Greek one's were a small lot of mostly unissued Canada Lend Lease guns. I purchased many of these guns.
They came with two magazines, holster and lanyard

Here is one on the EE right now for $850:

A much nicer one sold within the last 10 days +/- for $750, but that was one of those EE deals that is underpriced and sells in 10 minutes

The way the EE works, Hmmm $850, well that was 10 days ago so.....let's add $300 per day.....uh, it's yours for $3850 but just for today! But wait, don't run away, I'll even throw in a Flowbee Haircutting machine for free!

"Mint" means unfired and exactly as it came out of the factory. None made since 1945. If you ever found one, the last thing you'd want to do is shoot it.
Anyway, there's one on collector's source for $1495. Add the W's.

I bought a mint, unfired example that had never been arsenal refinished for a grand a few years ago and I will never fire it. I regularly use a well worn Inglis instead.

My theory on EE Relativity stands! LOL

$725.....$850.....$1125.....$1495.....BIG BANG! (Notice the "Chain Reaction" in $$$)

The EE really stands for "EXPONETIAL EXCHANGE" as it relates to price!!!

I love these threads that turn into a gripe session on EE pricing. The reality is the the prices are where they are because someone has paid that or close to the asking price in the past. In the case of the Inglis HP they haven't been made since the end of WWII and because they were made and issued in Canada they carry a certain cachet here for people interested in Canadian history. Add to this the fact the government announced all surplus stocks were being sent to the smelter there just isn't a reliable stock of these hi interest collectable pistols sitting on dealer shelves waiting for someone to decide to purchase them. As for the minty $750.00 priced Inglis HP's that is what they were selling for in the late 90's. I sold a group of 3 examples in the $800.00 to $900.00 range 3 to 4 years ago that all had a few cosmetic issues but were otherwise shootable examples.
As to the "Big Bang Theory" the one I listed for $1125.00 actually came after the ones listed for $1350.00 and $1450.00 also listed on the EE so I guess we are actually seeing a bit of a contraction in pricing. The $1125.00 asking price also included the usual haggle room as someone will always want to low ball you on your pricing. As a side note the one listed for $1450.00 includes several parts, a manual and a holster. The pistol can be had for $1250.00, an outstanding price for a cherry example, making the accessories a very good deal.
For $750.00 buy your self a nice used commercial Belgian example with no Canadian issue history.

Sold one with original holster for $1200. Canadian prices are much lower for quality surplus compared to other countries!
