Availability in Canada? Where to buy Optics Planet Vortex OPMOD StrikeFire II ???

It's not the import to Canada that's the issue, it's the export from the US.

So don't get caught with it on the US side.

They sometimes can ship across the border: it depends on the scope.

I just emailed them about shipping Vortex scopes to Canada a few days ago, so this is current as of the 23rd:

Greetings from OpticsPlanet.com!

The easiest way to determine the availability of an item for export is for you to place your order online. Once your order is in our system, we will then review the order using numerous checks relating to the item and its export destination.

When an order is placed, a pre-authorization is done with the payment method but no transaction is completed until the order is shipped. If we are unable to export the items you have requested, we can cancel the order and any credit card authorizations would cleared based on your banks policy and any (FRAUD ALERT) pre-authorizations would be voided.

Please place your order online and we’d be happy to get this process started for you. Have a great day!

They wont do it, they refuse to go through the hassle of filling out paperwork... If you attempt to "walk it across" you better hope you don't get caught by 'Merica, because Bubba will make you his girlfriend.

This looks rather similar and is available on this side of the border:

Vortex SF-BR-503 Strikefire II Red Dot Sight (black w/Cantilever mount)

Was the scope you inquired on marked the same way as the Vortex OPMOD Strikefire II ?

In other words, pay us and we'll see if the brand is on our list... I mean at least brownell's customer support will tell you on the phone or email if it's on the special dealer under $500 exemption list... optics planet not so much?
Keep this in mind. <$500 is usually dealer exempt from ITAR in certain circumstances. Also, any firearm part <$100 no matter what it is, is also exempt. I was not aware of this until a few weeks back when my local range dealer mentioned it.

The $100 and $500 tier both require the exporter to still file paperwork with the US State Dept.
The $100 tier doesn't require an End-User Certificate from the purchaser. Certain designated parts
are not exempt in this category. (Barrels, receivers, breach blocks and a few others).
The $500 tier requires an End-User Certificate from the purchaser.
The exporter will help the end-user to complete such paperwork.

Optics Planet is particularly bad for refusing to ship cross border, whether the item is actually controlled or not. I refuse to order from them.
ITAR is an effing joke. The US rolled back some tech export regulations in 2013 because they were of a "less sensitive nature" as reported by government docs.
In reality, their own misguided and over reaching program was causing them too much financial loss in certain tech sectors.

Great info, thanks!!
