Should the EESA Chairty match for CF have awards

Ok.........working on the planning part for the EESA 2010 Charity match. Making up "to do lists" etc.

I got to thinking of awards.

I am not certain what the feeling is towards having awards at this match so I thought a poll might help me.

So bottom line.

Seeing that this is a Level III match should we make up awards (trophies)?

Note: this is a charity match so any money spent on Awards comes off the bottom line.
 
Frankly I've got a box of trophys, medals, ribbon's etc from the last 20 years that I never look at. I know how well or poorly i've done, and a trophy isn't a must have item in my books.

Have you thought that it may not be the case for the new shooters?
 
Bragging rights/crying towel are enough reward.

If I do not shoot the match I shall donate the match fee to the MD for the chosen charity anyway.

C'mon, shooters, let's support this match and the charity.
 
Yes, make a trophy that can be used for years to come. so picture can be included in the bragging. but not an expensive one, charity is priority.
 
I have mixed feelings on this issue...

In the past 7 years I have put on a charity golf tournament. There have been years that I feel the tournamnet has suffered for the golfers because I have put too much emphasis on the charity. The golfers voiced that they were not feeling like they were getting their moneys worth while the charity was "making out like bandits."
I have since changed my mindset a little to ensure that a quality tournament is my number one priority. And in the end, I find that the charity does not suffer. (Besides, giving them $4500 they didn't have compared to $5000 they didn't have, makes little difference if I am ensuring my golfers are happy and coming back for years to come.)

I am a fan of plaque matches... it gives everyone that won their class or catagory a little something to bring home and show the wife and kids, or to hang on their "me wall".
 
Storm. I'm of the same thinking as Filthy1.

I look at this way....A 3$ piece of wood keeps the $20's coming back.....

+1 to filthy and bmw, only a few shooters are capable of getting the prez medal, but a class win is within reach for far more shooters. Level 3 should always have a plaque for top in division and class if there are 5 or more shooters per. Since its a charity match only do class/division winners.
 
I don't care much about award itself.
A plaque is nice, but something as simple as printed piece of paper would quite suffice for me (assuming that I would finally get classified in Standard by the date of the match, and would actually be eligible for a class award).
But I'd love to have some kind of ceremony after the match, seeing this is one of the bigger matches in Ontario.
 
You may be able to get some awards donated by Award shops, plaque printers, etc., if you talk to them about the charity event.
Perhaps a regular sponsor of events can contribute to the awards end of it?...or a new sponsor just for the awards?....

(for example,I did up some photo-plaque awards for a horse club this year, and it was less than 25.00 per 12x18 inch plaque.)

If it's to be a major match, there should be trophies. Whether it's your 1st or 100th trophy, it's still an award for performance. For a charity match it shouldn't be too hard to get someone to donate the trophies, it's an excellent marketing tool.
For years the AWARE match had not only trophies but prizes as well and still donated money to the AWARE charity.
