Hey guys, I finish my courses this spring and I am off to Basic training in Montreal and further courses in Halifax for a period of at least 6 months. I have briefly

searched for anything on this subject but honestly not extremely hard. My question is, can I leave my firearms (restricted) safely stored and locked away at my

house while I am away? Are there any time based restrictions on a persons absence from where they store their guns? Any info/insight would be appreciated. On

a positive note, while i'm away from my babies I get to shoot the C7 :canadaFlag:

Thanks,

Nothing in the law stating you can't. But I would have someone check on the house on a regular basis. If not it can void your home owners insurance.

Thanks guys I apprecitate the inf. Yeah the wife will be home while i'm away. I will take your advice and secure them past what the law requires. Maybe leave the O/U handy for the old lady in case the zombies finally show up.

For an extended absence I'd probably secure slides and frames separate, and magazines separate again. Same goes for rifles and their bolts if possible. Everything trigger locked and in their respective bolted down safes. Obviously ammo secured somewhere else entirely. May seem like overkill, but it's a few minutes work that could potentially save you some serious legal grief.
