I had a great day at the range today.

1. It was sunny and warm.

2. I got to try a Browning A-bolt M-1000 Eclipse (with boss) chambered in 300 WSM.

3. I also got to try a H&R Buffalo Classic Rifle (CR-1871) chambered in 45/70 Gov.

4. And most importantly I found what load my rifle shoots best!!! The rifle in question is a Tikka T3 chambered in .30-06. I got my best results with 180gr Interbonds over 56.5 gr of IMR 4350 in a Win case and WLR primers.

5 Shot group measuring .312" @ 100 yards.

I understand that it is standard practice to measure groups from the centre of the bullet holes, not the outside. That is because, large diameter bullets would otherwise make for larger groups... Nice shooting.

0.620 minus .308 = .312

:slap:

Thanks guys:)

Boomer, p-17, I especially want to thank you guys. You gave me a ton of tips and answered numerous questions I had a while back when I was first getting into reloading. It was much appreciated!

What's the average size of 5, 5-shot groups? That one groups is awesome, but will it consistently shoot that sort of group? I have a 30-06 that the 25 group average is at .78", and that is a truly accurate rifle IMHO, Regards, Eagleye.

Hi,

I also got similar results with my 06 T3 with Hornady A-max 150gr, H4350 and WLR primer.

This rifle seems to like plastic tipped Hornady bullets.

Can i ask you what OAL?

Mine is very close to rifling at 3.330in.

Dave...you need to get out hunting a little more... what a waste of bullets (after the first 10 groups you think you'd have clued in...slow learner?):D

Actually, Richard, I just calculated the whole mess when some disbelieving soul conjectured that factory iron could not be that consistent. The groups were made with 4 bullet weights (150,165,180 & 200) and at least 10 different load combos. It's one of those rifles that stays in my possession!!:D
