Had a great weekend bear hunting with family. I was out with my brother in law and his daughter. We Both got to fill our tags out at one go. Both shot within minutes of each other. We both saw the bears about to take off. The blonde one was shot first and black one took off. As we were trying to locate the blonde sow the big boar came back aggressively and held his ground at 50ish yards. Shot him in the chest with my Zastava 8MM Mauser (8x57js) with 196gr Norma bullets at 2550 fps. Dropped on the spot and started rolling down hill, never got back up.

This is defiantly my biggest bear to date. Hes 6 foot from tail to nose but his mass was an incredible sight. He will be going to the taxidermist today and will be turned into a rug with its mouth open. Really nice coat on him. Deboned meat came in at 180ish pounds.

Here are pictures out where we were hunting in region 3 around Kamloops area. Pictured below is my brother in-law and niece.

I think you would have a hard time claiming you’re protecting property on Crown land.

Schedule "B" lists animals that may be captured or killed only for the specific purpose of protecting property unless an open season is designated by regulation (see Regional Schedules for open seasons):

(a) Scapanus orarius - coast mole
(b) Lepus americanus - snowshoe hare
(c) all of the species of the sub family Arvicolinae and lemmings, except Ondonatra zibethicus - muskrat.
(d) Neotoma cinerea - bushy-tailed woodrat
(e) all species of the genus Peromyscus - deer mice
(f) Erethizon dorsatum - porcupine
(g) Thomomys talpoides - northern pocket gopher
(h) Marmota flaviventris - yellow-bellied marmot
(i) Marmota monax - woodchuck
(j) Spermophilus columbianus - Columbian ground squirrel
(k) Mephitis mephitis - striped skunk
(l) Procyon lotor - raccoon
(m) Spilogale putorius - spotted skunk

Local ranchers and neighbours can't write their own laws for crown land.

Learn something new every day. I've hunted them on ranches and my land. Didn't know until today.
