AWESOME Ultrasonic Cleaning Solution

Using a tumbler cleans inside of the cases. I don't think many people de-prime brass before tumbling, I don't; and I don't care about cleaning primer pocket either. I tumble my brass, and then run it thru usual - de-prime, prime, flare, powder charge, bullet seating and crimp, boxing by 500rds in a box.
I had one squib only so far in 30K+ rounds lot, and it happened within first 1000rds I ever loaded; duh, I was still learning (on my own too).
It may happen one gets rounds loaded with split cases like these.. but the person needs to do some quality control!!!!

No Ceezer, a tumbler does NOT clean primer pockets and the insides of casings nearly as well as this ultrasonic cleaner does, that it was I meant. Primer pockets that are complete void of crud after 5 minutes of soaking in an ultrasonic cleaner vs tumbling brass for a couple of hours and then using a primer pocket tool to clean, it's time for me to buy the ultrasonic cleaner and retire the tumbler.

I have been asked "where can I buy the Lagostina Cleaner?"
Well I thought maybe everyone would like to know. I picked it up at Canadian Tire, when we purchased a set of Lagostina pots and pans. It is really cheap too, $4.99 a can. It is a powder similar to comet but it says that it is biodegradable on the can, which is what let me believe it would be safe to try on a small batch. Since my original post I have cleaned over 100 30-06 shells and another 120 30-30 shells, they all came out looking great!
I found that after about 5 or 6 washes you need to empty the tank and make a new solution. Even though my Ultrasonic is capable of holding 50 30-06 shells I read some where that less is more when it comes to using Ultrasonics, so I was washing them in batches of 20 per time.

Yes this whole thing started with running a batch through a 480 sec water bath. I sat there and stared at it for the full 8 minutes!
I couldn't turn away it was amazing to watch. Out of the primer pockets and necks of each case came a cloudy stream as the carbon residue was washed away!However the finished product still looked like the same shell that I picked up off the ground, discolored and brown. I wanted to try and find something that would shine the brass or at least clean it up a little. Well I hit a home run on my first try! I have read other threads about stainless steel tumbling and I would say that my cases are at least as good looking as they are at a fraction of the cost, both in the cost of the ultrasonic machine and a can of cleaner (total of $80 including shipping) or a tumbler and stainless media (total of $300 plus shipping). Not to mention that I cleaned over 200 shells to a high gloss finish inside and out in just over an hour and a half where as it would have taken at least 4 hours in a tumbler for the same amount of shells.
Picked some up at The Bay tonight and did a couple small batches. Seems to get the cases shinier than Lemishine. However, there was still a bit of the pinkness on the brass that you occasionally get with Lemishine and a few of them has some powdery residue. I may have used too much of the stuff though. Need to do some more experimentation with it.... Looks promising!
Hey I noticed a white residue forming as they dried as well, if you give the cases a good long rinse under the tap after the ultrasonic bath it gets rid of this issue. If you notice on the directions on the can it says to immediately rinse and dry the "pot" after cleaning.

agreed, for pistol ammo I could really care less, but rifle ammo I definitely prefer cleaned primer pockets. I've had dud reloads that I am quite certain the cause was primer pockets not being clean enough. On a paper range, whatever. on a chance in a lifetime buck, thats different.
Aha... Now that's what I'm going to try next time. No pinkish discoloration?
I don't care much for USonic brass cleaning, stainless is much less work IMO. But I may try again to clean slides & trigger groups using Lagostina cleaner in my USonic, I'm just not sure if the cleaner is safe on non-stainless finishes.
Thanks, I wasn't referring to USonic cleaning, I use a rotary tumbler with SS media for cleaning brass. Sometimes when I 'overdose' on Lemi-Shine brass comes out pinkish color, i.e. nickel starts to leach out. I wanted to know if same thing may happen with Lagostina cleaner.
Thanks guys for the info. I bought the Hornady Ultrasonic about 6 months ago from P&D. I also bought the Hornady cleaner that is to be used with it. Have used it time and again, but have never been happy with the results. The cases may be clean, they just don't look like it, as has been stated elsewhere. I was even questioning whether or not the US was working properly. So I went out and bought a tumbler. Now I find out I may just need to use a different cleaning solution. What did I learn from this: ALWAYS check on CGN first!!!
