hi guys this is my first time trying to add pics so let me know if it doesn't work. what can you guys tell me about this aya side by side shotgun??

it says safari arms on one barrel and aya a----- y------- a-------- what ever it stands for I just don't have it infront of me. aya on the but pad 12 gauge. what other info might i look for??

Take the forearm off. Take some photos of the markings on the underside of the barrel.

I have a book I can check when I get home and can probably give you the meaning of the proof marks and the build year.

12-70 = 12 ga 2-3/4" chambers
* = full choke
*** = modified choke

From what I can see the date code is S1 which puts the date of manufacture as 1974. Here's a link explaining most of the markings that you'll find on the barrels and action.

Case colors appear brilliant. It's hard to tell from the pictures the condition of the barrels. Same for the wood, although I thought I saw evidence of refinishing on the forend. Field grade. Overall condition - at least Very Good or better, depending on the inside of the barrels and the lock up.

Safari Arms is elusive, but my guess is that it's either a hardware store brand, or the Safari Arms company in the U.S. that made 1911 pistols was importing them from Spain.

Really hard for me to put a price on it because it's so dependant on condition. Anywhere between $250 and $550, IMO.

i would agree that the would has had a coat on it , but the gun is incredably tight.

The serial number on your AYA is consistent with the S1 proofing date.

The proof marks: Eibar proof house mark, followed by provisional black powder proof, followed by I can't see it on the barrel but the one on the action is a shield with BP = reinforced smokeless proof 12,090 psi.

Sorry, I can't help about the model - its just one of a zillion AYA boxlocks I'm sure. Quite a nice one judging by the photos but not particularly valuable.

AYA - Aguirre y Aranzabal. These are the names of the founders of the company.
