AYA SxS questions

That same gun in a 4/53 today will retail in Canada for 7000 plus. Only Difference is anew one may have somewhat better wood and annoying ejectors.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of Dilly's rust bluing of the barrels. I hope that you enjoy the gun, and shoot it well.
I'm curious if you emailed AyA, and whether you got a response. Before the pandemic, Carmen at AyA answered fairly promptly, with date and model number from serial number supplied.

Of course, the date of manufacture and much more information is in the proofs on the action and barrel flats, and on the barrels just beyond the flats.
There will also be the bore diameters, choke diameters, and the weight of the barrel set at proof.

Despite the high price of a current AyA shotgun, the prices realized by older AyA shotguns are somewhat disappointing, particularly in 12 gauge with short barrels.
However, that makes them more attractive to those of us who appreciate and use such shotguns.

Thank Dilly for the pictures of his work as they were only posted with his permission.

I did not email AyA as numerous posts online that they haven’t provided that service of dating your gun for some time unless you want to sign up and pay a fee for it. If I recall correctly it’s not been provided free for several years.

Yes, i’m aware of the information marked on the gun you refer to. My first post gave the bore and choke diameters.

This gun was literally a phone call away from being turned in for destruction until a next door neighbour of the owner suggested he call me. It has been a fun project to get it cosmetically cleaned up. Shot it for the first time today on a couple sporting clays stations.

As to your perception of realized values of older AyA 12 gauge shotguns I have no background to comment.
