B.C. hunter passed away weeks after rescuing himself from the jaws of a grizzly bear

Video 41s - I was reaching for my bear spray. It didn’t work.

Just saw this last night on the news . Poor woman is going to have a lot of scarring , glad she got out of it alive ! My better half and I are going to resume are hiking endeavours come next year and if it’s not in dedicated park I’m seriously considering packing a shorty shot gun . What say you ?

My Mossberg 590 with 14" barrel, red dot, and stream light forend is my best gun purchase to date. Short, handy, light. I've even packed it past people, slung and tucked between my arm and torso without anyone noticing. Coupled with a deep penetrating slug, definitely my favourite for bush carry for camping and hunting.

He should have applied to carry a heavy/bear handgun in that area of the Province at this time of year.
i think it's high time we disregard the "rules" that prevent us all from carrying sidearms while in the wilderness.
I mean, if it saves one life right?
The laws that prevent us from using the best tools for self defense in the wilderness are irresponsible and putting people at risk.
I'm personally done begging the government for permission

I met the bear author Charlie Russell on a flight into Kamchatka. I'd read his book and found it very woke. When he learned I was a professional field geologist he asked me if I'd read his book and I pretended that I hadn't and depended on Herrero and even more on Shelton for teaching my staff.

He was very crestfallen.........

I'm a bad person sometimes.......

Ha! Ha! Ha! Geólogo is cruel and ruthless, no?

When I'm concerned about Bears I pack an Autoloader.

Disclosure here: I am a Dangerous Wildlife Monitor.
Myself and colleagues all carry pump 12 gauge shotguns.
The reason being the potential for a jam is much reduced, and they cycle damn near as fast in the right hands.

With either, you would be lucky to get a second shot off.
It happens so damn fast as to be incredulous.

Cheers

When the rubber meets the road I'll take an Autoloader.

Other than cheap trap loads I've never had an issue, I think the potential for problems under stress is greater with a pump.
