Had the day off work today so i figured id take the mossberg plinkster out with me and my four year old daughter to wack some gophers!v Shes still pretty new to the whole hunting thing.........what better way to get her into it!?
Spent a good hour or two just wandering round the gopher patch plinkin at targets of oppurtunity. With baby girl mere feet behind me with her hunting seat and binos, shuffling in her little rubber boots to keep up. laughing and gvin me the ol' "good shot" in approval whenever i managed to make'er count.
We then decided the best way to end the afternoons hunt was ice cream!
Figures huh!?
While driving home on the backroads.....As if theres anyother way to travel when youve got a gun and the day off! I couldnt help notice a perfect little place to try calling a yote.
Parked the truck. Packed up all mission essential gear, plus one 4 year old
We quietly made our way bout a km down an old trail.
stoping only to check out tracks in the dirt and some fence crossings.
Sat the young one down in a ditch on the downwind side of a slew on the west side of a cow pasture. I handed Kera the primos catnip and told her to giver s##t! She blew on that thing like her life depended on it! No sooner had the giggles and snickers bout the noise she was ENCOURAGED to make die down, did the guest of honour himself show up. Didnt see where he came from as i was tryin to calm the apprentice down. But watched him sit down and give me the perfect opportunity! Droped him with one well placed shot to the head! couldnt have been there more than 2 mins. Kera was so excited she called her first coyote. And couldve cried. My baby girl is on her way to becoming the next dog slayer. Took some pics but gonna have to figure out how to post em
