Great! How far does it stick out from the end of the gas plug compared to the standard flash hider if you measure from that point for both?

It adds about 1.5" measured from the muzzle.

It indexes using shims. Apparently his gun does not need any shims but my odd ball gun needed a hundred thou shim. Must have been made by different high school classes.

4140 Steel and Black Oxide Coated, its still freshly oiled. (will fade over time)

There is a 0.010" shim (1/2 turn rotation) and 0.005" shim (1/4 turn) use to index.
The last 1/4 to 1/3 turn is used to tighten the brake onto the barrel.
