..........with a beautiful 53 1/2" bull for my 14 yr old client from Utah:eek: ......Im gonna nominate "crazy davey" to post my pictures tomorrow;) . The young fella shot the moose at 26 yds. One shot. No follow-up needed. Now if all clients were like that. His dad was along with a moose tag but the weather got very warm and that was that........rut was not on so some real moose calling was needed. Thankfully my voice was clear and I didn't do too bad if I say so myself.....:D

This kid was as solid a hunter as I've seen in a long time.

The young fella here is Devin and he is from Utah. A more mature 14yr old you may never meet. He had a 6x Leupold on his Winchester 270 and I called this pre-rut moose in to 26yds. Devin had a bit of a time with his high magnification optic, but it was his scope and he bought it with his own money and that's what he had. The moose did not call back, just slowly walked in to my cow calling. I had to stop the moose twice as itlooked like it was gonna run, as the wind was totally in the moose's favor.

Devin had the presense of mind to look at the antlers and measure from there to the spine just below the hump and touched off one shot with a 150g soft point Remington. He remained cool throughout, even though there was a 1400lb animal standing in front of him.

De-boned meat, excluding the ribs, was weighed in at 769lbs. I caped it for him and his dad is gonna get a full shoulder mount done.

I was unable to get his dad a moose as the weather warmed to about 16 C....and the bugs were unreal. There is only so much a kid and guide can take......

That is simply awsome.

Great animal, good on the kid for having paid for his own gear, and you've just imprinted his young mind for a lifetime of great experiences.

Good work Randy.
