We just got back from Argentina yesterday and had an amazing trip. We hunted with Caza Pampa Outfitters for the first four days and then moved over to TGB Outfitters for the final 6 days of trip. My number one species was a free range blackbuck and Vanessa wanted an axis deer badly but after experiencing all of the hunting over there, we both agreed that hunting red stags in roar is downright addicting. Caza Pampa offers some of the best free range stag hunting in the country and it was far more challenging than I ever imagined. This definately won't be our last trip!

Looks like you guys took a crack at everything.

Argentina and Africa are both on my list.

Can you give us a rundown on rifles and loads?

We took everything with a pre 64 Model 70 that I had built on the action from my very first rifle. I was built by Rocky Mountain Rifles. It's chambered in 7RM and we were shooting Hornady Superformance ammo with 139 grain GMX. The furthest shot was the axis deer at 312 yards but most were under 100 yards. Vanessa even took the water buffalo with the tiny bullet. We recovered her first shot on the far hide after passing through two ribs and about four feet of buffalo...pretty impressive. Not sure I'd recommend the cartridge for buff but they became a target of opportunity while stag hunting so Vanessa made the shots count.

Still lots of other species available down there but we got the ones we really wanted although a Europen mouflon is definitely on the hit list for the next trip.

Great pics, great hunt! I agree with you...a free-range Blackbuck is something I find very appealing. Don't know why...I've never even seen a live Blackbuck. I've gotta do this someday.

How would this hunt have been for a nonhunting observer? Scenery, activities, services...? And why did you take only one gun? Is it expensive/difficult to get guns into the country?

Caza Pampa would be a great choice for a non hunter as they offer horseback riding, carriage rides, etc. TGB was more of a dedicated hunting lodge. Both facilities were very comfortable and the food and wine was awesome...as were the people. Buenos Aires is a great city to spend some time in as well.

Here's a picture of the lodge at TGB

We only took one rifle because that's all we felt we needed. We had planned to borrow a rifle for the buffalo. Getting rifles in and out is relatively painless. It costs about $80 for each permit. You must visit the police station in the airport before you board a plane or get off a plane so you need to add an extra hour everywhere you fly but it a pretty simple process.

Nice pics
I bet I can tell wich were taken at TGB.
I wouldn't worry about using the 7 mag on WBuff (if you can shoot).
My giude was armed with a knife.
Argentina is a fantastic vacation destination.

Thanks for the info and extra pictures. My wife is interested on going on a hunt in Argentina with me!

Geez, the things I have to do for that woman...:D

Hey Sheephunter, looks like a successful hunt. Super heavy Blackbuck, nice one!
Nice Fallow too, real good palmation.
Argentina is on my list but Africa keeps calling me over and over and over........
Great photos, I wish I would remember to take photos, seldom do though.

Ya, I really wasn't sure what to expect but I'm glad I went and truthfully, I'd go back again in a heartbeat. It was far more challenging than I ever imagined and I couldn't get enough of hunting those roaring free range stags. It's definitely a grossly underrated country as far as big game hunting goes.
