Just got my rifle back from Sean at North Shore Barrels (juanvaldez) where it underwent some pretty extensive work.

Big thanks to Sean for not getting pissed at me for the constant emails and phone calls, and for busting his a** to make sure it got back to me in time to do some load development for the Victoria Day match at Connaught.

Specs are:

Trued Rem 700 LH Action
.308 Broughton 7.9B 5C 1:10 twist, finished at 30"
Chambered for Berger 200gr Hybrids
Matte Black Cerakote
Badger Style Bolt Knob
Robertson Composites TAC Stock w/ 3-Way Butt
"Broughton Pillar" and Devcon Bedded
Timney TAC Trigger at 8oz
Sightron SIII 8-32 x 56 LRTD
Nightforce 20 MOA Base
TPS Rings
Score High Single Shot Follower

Here it is all put together:

Ready for a good cleaning before the first trip to the range on Sunday. Lucas Bore Guide to eliminate any risk of damage from cleaning.

Weighs in at just under 17.5 lbs with my Sinclair bipod on it. Just enough room for a scope upgrade...

I'll have a range update on Sunday. I can't wait to shoot this thing!

Time to go clean and start loading...

Managed to get out to the range today to do the barrel break in that Broughton recommends (I figured it couldn't hurt) and do some load development. I couldn't believe how easy this barrel was to clean. Did the "shoot one, clean" routine 5 times and didn't see any traces of copper fouling. After shooting a couple of groups of my recipe from last year (168 VLD, 44gr Varget) I started doing my load development for the rounds this barrel was chambered for. These are all 3 shot groups (I know, I know) at 100 yards:

This shot great but I think it might be too slow to make it out to 900m

I'll probably work on this one a little more; bolt lift was a little heavy but the primers were fine. Velocity should be around 2575, which is lots.

This group was off to a great start, but I pulled the last one. I think I'll try it again with 5 shots.

I ended up trying 9 different charges of Varget today, and with a couple of exceptions they ranged from 0.6" down to .252"; the two groups that were over 0.6 had called pulls. I'm really excited to see what this rifle is capable of once I spend some time fine tuning it.

Looking good Scott. My current broughton cleans up just like yours, but doesn't shoot anything like that. You are off to a very promising start. No joy on Victoria Day. Hopefully August for the inaugeral F Class championship.

I unfortunately wasn't able to chrony the loads; hopefully I'll get a chance to do that before Victoria Day so I can figure out all my come-ups. Thanks again for the great work you did on this Sean, I really appreciate it.

Hope to see you in August Matt!

I was one to pester Sean as well. He is a stand up guy!
Once again, good work Sean.

And that's why we call Sean the "Barrel Pimp". :dancingbanana:

I have one of his builds on my M700 and this .260 Rem gives me total confidence especially after the PR clinic hosted by RudyP of the ORA ... total good times.

Hats off to Sean!

Cheers,
Barney
