Hi
I purchased my first Savage 93R17 back in 2004 (no accutrigger) model sold it two years ago. I was recently cleaning up my ammo safe and I found just under 150 rounds of 17HMR. Not sure what to do - so I bought another Savage 93R17 GV (wood stock from a site supplier) - I looked at the CZ457 which is nice but twice the price - nothing wrong with Savage they make good accurate rifles out of the box.

Still have the scope I used on my first 17HMR (Bushnell Dust to Dawn 3-9x40) that will be going onto this one - going to enjoy shooting this one at the range.

I have a savage 93r17 heavy barrel in a Tupperware stock. I have a scorpion 17HMR scope with the 17 gr turret marked for distance and it works really well out to 200 yards as long as it’s not windy then all bets are off. It’s my go to farm gun for ground hogs as it’s difficult to get within 150 yards. And I find the hornady to be the most accurate.

My findings as well the CCI are crappy however the Hornady 17g are awesome - shot a 1.770 inch group at 200 yards (5 shots) this morning - know anyone who put their 93r17 into a MDT Chassis - may end up going that way one day

I have a 22lr savage fv accutrigger in a mdt lss22 stock. Great stock. Great service as well
I dont have a hmr but i have a 17 mach2 though. Its great for squirrels and rabbits and grouse

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting the MDT chassis, anyone know a dealer with a bare chassis in stock?

Update:
651 rounds fired
The rough bolt issue is no more - took just shooting it for it to smooth itself out - going to put a 4-12x40 AO scope on it - should tighten the groups up at 200 yards. Highly recommend the Savage over the CZ - just my opinion - it prefers the 17 grain Hornady (red tip) rounds
