'back up' rifle when hunting

I've never needed a backup centerfire for larger game cause I
ensure my rifles are fully reliable (Along with the ammo) before heading out.

Thats not the point. Some of us get the opportunity to bag more than one animal per hunt so we like to switch things up. Of course, some folks only own one rifle.

For me over the years, the rationale of taking an additional rifle has been for use as a spare. Just in case one of the guys has a major rifle problem, and so the actual hunt for him isn't a lost case, there's always a spare to fall back on. Hasn't happened often but there have been a couple of occasions when tha spare has been made good use of.

Always have a back up rifle, preferably a stainless synthetic for when its wet out.
