Anyone have any good backpack suggestions for a 10.5" AR? Want something a little discrete instead of a typical rifle case. Don't mind if I have to break it down.

I was looking at the 5.11 Select Carry Sling Pack, but just wondering if anyone has any better suggestions?

The Eagle AIII fits a broken down 10.5 AR without issue. The Slingcarry might be a tight fit pending optics...

Most civie schoolbags (Mec, eddiebauer) should do the job well also.

I have a Eberlestock x3 lowdrag bag. Excelent bag , it will accomodate any size / style rifle. This bag is tough as nails ! It fits my rifle with an aimpoint and 30 rnd mag attached. (ranger pates make it really tight thogh..)

Military Times has an article on the Grey Ghost Gear Lightweight Assault Pack with pics putting broken 10.5" AR15 in the pack.

Most packs will fit them.

I've used a RAID pack, Blue Force Gear DAP packs and now use the Arcteryx Blade 30.

The key is finding internal velcro or pockets to hold the upper and lower in place.

Elberstock makes a great pack if you can afford it have the gunslinger II for hunts.
If not you can always try to find a cheap civi pack/laptop bag that already has padding inside it and put it in there if you want super discreet.

Ya, with what I have spent building my AR I may just go with a regular pack with some padding rather than spending an addition few hundred dollars.

Personally I was not impressed at all with the 5.11 COVRT M4 pack. Flimsy as hell and the rifle did not secure very well. For a 10.5" AR this pack will not secure it properly.

The pack was like wearinf really loose jogging pants and then putting as much change coins as possible in the pockets.

It was flimsy, uncomfortable, and the nylon was prone to ripping.

I wouldn't bother.

VooDoo tactical has a new line of low profile cases. Some would say they are a knock off from Larue. But they seem good.
