Backpacker pictures...

3 weeks to wait, well I guess I just have 2 weeks and 5 days left till I can play with my new outlaw

damn, when I saw bobby whining about his outlaw, I was kinda like, come on settle down and wait. Now I'm like, where the hell is my SHOTGUN!!! Intellectually I know that the folks at Canam are doing the best they can, that the tavor order is a big hassle right now, that there are probably at least a hundred of us waiting on shotguns, that they are a small business with a small staff, but emotionally I'm going "the money is in your bank, the website says its in stock, where is my truck of happiness???" but I keep telling myself what a load it must have been when all you had was an Eaton's, you sent away a letter, and hopefully sometime within the next 3 months you got your package. I think its worse now that we can look at the website, and almost worse is the damn package tracking thing, thats like just cruel, baiting yourself, look its now "accepted" in Vancouver, look now its "in depot" in Winnipeg. Not that mine is in the mail to agonize over, its still "queued" at Canam.

I already linked this one but here it is

I agree that the bolt safety is not needed but I don't think it is unsafe.

Are you worried about the safety being on when you need to shoot?

The safety will not move to safe until the hammer is cocked..so if you leave the hammer down and only #### it when you are ready to fire I can't see the safety getting accidentally engaged....

I just can't help but expect one or more 'Nutz to think the safety is "ON"
when the hammer is cocked and accidently fall into a false sense security and let their finger migrate into the trigger guard. Experience in handling of firearms has no substitute. And inexperience can let things like that happen.

I prefer to "KNOW" that if the hammer is cocked it will fire "EVERY TIME" I pull the trigger unless I'm decocking the hammer in a safe direction.

HAMMER BACK = READY TO FIRE, NO EXCEPTIONS. Simple and safe.

Ordered Jan 10. Arrived today.

Great quality (for $150). Also very handy and will actually be a good backpacking gun!

Hopefully I will get a chance to shoot it this weekend :D

Shown with a HP-9 wearing a Houge 12" LOP stock.

Generic nylon shell holder...

Originally bought for the Houge stock; it's a sloppy fit on the short LOP Houge. Snug on the Backpacker.

Can you shoot a slug from a mod. choke? I know it is hard on the choke, but we just pop baloons and paper for fun. Some say yes, and some say no. What do you "experts" say?,

Most slugs are totally fine. if you examine the box they tend to say something like

"The incredible efficiency of this rifled slug permisit to be fired out of a smoothbore or rifled barel, in any choke configuration without decreasing it's incomparable accuracy and stopping power"

that was off a box of Challenger 12g 2 3/4" magnum slugs. The spelling errors and improper sentence structure are lifted right off the box, it is a Quebec company, I assume the errors are translation based. Remington Slugger says "Safe for use with any Choke."

Foster type slugs have rings that swage while travelling down the barrel and are ok even in a full choke. Just stay away from premium sabot loads and you should be ok.
