backyard coyote issue advice needed!!!

apparently I have a den 25 feet from my patio saw them all last night and one even came up the raised patio to the door starting at 8:30pm anyone know if I can pop them with my bow after dark given how close they are to my house and the safety issue? would this fall under my legal right to protect my property ministry is closed so I figured I ask


also how do i skin them i may as well make a rug or wall mount a few lol

"...legal right to protect my property..." No such thing. Farmers can protect live stock, but you can't illegally shoot 'em for being in your back yard. Call the MNR. They'll likely tell you to call a wild life removal company.

Your legal right to protect property is going to be strictly defined by the law. Just being on your property will most likely not allow you to kill the coyotes. A couple of years ago I had a black bear that was hanging around my yard, and was getting more and more stubbord about not being chased off, to the point of putting up a bit of a fight with my dogs before leaving (and coming back the next day). I called renewable resources and they told me the bear can only be destroyed AFTER it has caused either caused damage to my property, or hurt my dogs or hurt my family. Hanging around and being stubborn did not qualify for me shooting it or them sending anyone with rubber bullets or a bear trap to do anything about it.
 
Whacking them with the bow (and keeping it to yourself) if you are a good shot would be my advice.
 
If you have a dog you could take it's Sh!t and throw some in the den. They'll be gone.

I did this back behind my house because the little a$$holes we're coming up on my lawn and taking a dump. After I threw some Dog Dung out in the woods they stoped coming close to the house. I guess it kind of broadens your territory and they won't come close to it.

Do whatever you want, regardless of where you are and what the laws and regulations say. If the authorities give you any trouble, just tell them someone on the interweb said it was o.k. and they'll leave you alone.
 
ya im on 13 acres and with all the new development going on they are moving to new areas and i have a tree line 25 feet from my house and they have a den near the tree line

... local laws allow me to bow/xbow hunt on my land but that's it guess it was a funny first post but hey gotta start somehow lol
 
why not just enjoy em and be thankful you wont have a mouse problem? Sure if they get mangey or unhealthy wack em but there really is no 'saftey' issue unless you leave your newborn out unattended.
 
Check with the local authorities, there is no one here that can give you the goods on that question.
In Ontario, only coons can be hunted at night.
I think you'd have to have proof, if you shot one, that it was damaging your property, or endangering pets, or children. The reg exist here, but it's a fine line. For example, if it were deer that were damaging your property, you'd have to take pics of the damage to the ministry, and they may even visit you, before issuing a limited number of tags, for deer reduction.
Tread carefully.

I would not be bothered long before that ?
Leave them alone and if they are endangering your life and property, you can shoot them any time of day or night but you can not destroy the den under any circumstances, better get bitten by coyote than getting d"""nged by MNR.
Given your area restrictions ,you better call the MNR and explain, is lot better than banned for life from hunting if you start explaining to the judge

The night hunting clause is exempt here. Like John said, you better be able to prove damage to property/livestock. You will have a hard time, if they keep to themselves. I have called the CO in my area, and got a simple "ok shoot it - after dark" due to livestock.
Just relax, the howls are erie, but they are fairly afraid of humans.

your 3rd post should be " hey guys, the coyotes just left for some reason... oh and anyone know how to tann a hide ???"
