Bad Ace K98....

Needs a bigger rail...

Yes, a haircut is on the menu..

Looks almost period correct prepare to be flamed lol

I’m more than good with that, I have one battle worn # matching rig and if I can make this one a nice everyday shooter I’m good with that, not trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear that for sure, tho neither are RC Mausers and 15 minutes puts it back to stock....

Looks good to me. I had a POF with no bolt sitting in the pile for 30 years. A good friend gave me a bolt, so I put a no gunsmithing mount on and mounted an old K4. The old rifle shoots like a dream. I am not widely known as a "precision" shooter, so if I can hit the gong at 100 yds., I am overjoyed.

I have a WZ29/40 that was drilled and tapped long before I got it. I have a good mind to find a full wood stock and mount a nice steel Weaver. I have the bases that came with it. The POF, a Churchill sporter, a nice BSA M1917 sporter, and this WZ29 would make a great team for an afternoon of shooting.

I like the scout mount/LER option better. That's what I'll likely go with.

Burris has a nice 2-7x LER with a BDC in it.

Just did my Israeli K98 with the same set up using a Burris Fullfield

I put an AIM #MT015 scout scope mount on our RC K98. For the long eye relief we mounted a 2-7x pistol scope and bought a padded riser off Amazon to get a proper cheek weld.

With I4350 and 175gr projectiles we found a load that gave 3 round groups the size of a dime at 100m. Not too bad for a rifle that probably wasn't shot for over 70 years.

If all RC K98's were this accurate I probably should pick up a few more...
