Bad buy at Ellwood Epps

I've only had good experiences with Epps over the years, but I guess it depends on who you deal with. If it was me, I wouldn't stand for it. I would pick up the phone and call Wes collect. Keep calling him until I got him. Explain the situation, who I dealt with and what I expect for it to be resolved to my satisfaction.

Epps has been around a long time and is very successful. Their business wasn't built by pissing off customers. I'm guessing if Wes hears about this, he will resolve it quickly. Employees sometimes forget who the customer is and who pays their salary.

No but it can be destroyed. I have never dealth with the business personally, but there is a thread like this it seems every month.

Nothing but ####ty experiences from Epps here, piss poor customer service both times I went to buy something. Left empty handed each time....

The only gripe I have with Ellwood Epps is that when they ship a gun, the box is filled with little pieces of styrofoam that is a complete pain to clean off the carpet!

Ellwood should just give the guy store credit, I reckon. And if possible, throw out all styrofoam from their premises.

Can anyone give the little guy a break around here? Im sure Epps has made mistakes, so has every human ever. JTF, im sure you could get your money back. or did you buy something that was a final sale? common, think before you buy people. half the complaints on this website are from customers who dont check the store phyiscally or make a simple phone call with the appropriate questions ready. Its so easy to use your credit card. how about your brains?

Who's the little guy brother lol epps has been around for a while. You think they would have there shy straight by now. As for contacting the owner, the need shouldn't be present with such a minuscule fix. Give the guy his money back and don't hire idiots with no sense of customer service to run the front lines of your company. Every single time I have been there it seems as though showing customers any shelved firearms is a damn chore. It doesn't matter how big of a company you are today, repetitive poor customer service will destroy any size company.

I have had 2 experiences with epps, one in person and one mail order. Visited from NL and bought a crap load of reloading stuff and everything was in stock. Looked at several Firearms while there. Called next day and purchased a rifle. They held it for shipping until my specified date to ship as I did not want it delivered while I was on holidays. Zero problems, excellent communication and absolutely the best inventory and prices on the items I wanted. Will be visiting again on my summer holidays.

This forum is really comming up to a bunch of cry baby.. #### happen.. People make mistake.. Grow up.. Take the phone and talk to them.

These day you have the happy crowd that start tread on how happy they are with their transaction and the other half crying each time there is a bug with a transaction..and ALWAYS all the other who get in the bandwagon on how good or bad this dealer or another are. This is sick....

Sick are the folks that jumps on the OP for a legitimate complaint. Silly are the folks that go on a forum not wanting to hear personal experiences; are you lost???

Epp did not fulfill their side of the agreement so need to pay for all the cost; NO way should the OP accept a credit; nothing but full refund, OP does not pay a penny.

bought from them once, they are good at getting the order taking your money sending you a product, but if it has an issue your #### out of luck. never deal with them again

The problem with EPPS is that they have been around forever and they have huge inventory.
There is so much S**T in the back you have no idea.

The guys that work there....ONLY work there for themselves! They get a job there to rummage through all the stuff to get themselves and their buddies parts. And deals when someone trades in a firearm.

Where do you think all the AR parts went....??? Not to customers.

Don't you find it weird that they never mess up and give you something better than what you ordered?

Actually, this very thing happened to me recently. Epps had a used Ruger No. 1 listed in excellent condition for sale. I emailed for pics and was sent good closeup pics within a few hours. I bought the rifle online on a Monday night and it showed up the following Thursday by Canpar.I was amazed at the condition of the rifle and would describe it as better than excellent. Overall, I was quite pleased with the transaction and would deal with them again anytime.

I don't know if I've just been ridiculously lucky or some of these stories are exaggerated and/or people expect to be treated like they're in Starbucks. I've been to Epps in person, on a weekend. Yeah they pack their store tight but I'm over 300lbs and I had no trouble negotiating the store. Yes I had to wait a few minutes for someone at the gun counter to free up... big deal. No he didn't give me a smile and a bj but he did answer all of my questions, went to get the shotgun I wanted, and I was on my way.

For any used gun I've considered, I've emailed their photo guy who, within an hour, has always sent me a pile of high res photos of every angle.

Bought the Ruger SR1911 online, emailed asking if they'd post tracking info online. They quickly replied and very honestly admitted that their ordering system still sucks and it won't show anything, and to please call the shipping dept at this number. I called a few days later, nice lady told me that the transfer just completed, but she has a ton of orders and took down my email, and sure enough, emailed me my tracking info a day later when my gun shipped.

Coles notes: will do it again.

One thing I learned from visiting gun shops is to stay away from old people. I've yet to come across someone in the gun retail business who was long in the tooth and wasn't crotchety as all hell.

Listed as excellent , what you got just fit the description ad it normally should, wouldn't count it as better . I guess dealing with Epps tends to lower your expectations. Now if you order a Baby Eagle and get a Desert Eagle..................that's what I call screwing up for the better.

For a bunch of gun owners there are some whiny little princess' on here. "ughh there is a scratch in my receiver". You ae not making love to it... get out and shoot the darn thing.

You can say or think what you like, but I was happy with the whole thing, and have no complaints at all with the service I received from Elwood Epps.

If what you say is true... and you can PROVE (knowing that what they were offering was not the product that they intended to provide to you) that they offered one item for sale and then sent you another...
1) Contact the local police service (OPP?) and file a report of Fraud....the CFO will be involved by Monday
or
2) Enjoy your new pistol
...personally i would hope that somebody at EE would read this thread and correct their mistake before OPTION #1 ever gets initiated....I hope you and the folks at EE can work this out

What's this stuff about calling the police or the CFO? Are you kidding me. Pick up the phone and give the owner a piece of your mind. If he doesn't cooperate, let him know your feelings will be posted on the internet for everyone to see how you were ripped off.

I used to run Customer Service for a central vac company a few years ago. This lady calls me and says she hired a handyman to install one of our central vacs. He installed it up high like they usually do, but she couldn't get to the canister since she was in a wheelchair. She, of course, called the handyman to lower it but he told her to pay him or go pound salt. Anyways, she wanted us to take care of it since it was our product. My first reaction was "it's not our fault". Then she proceeded to say "how would you feel about seeing a picture of little old crippled me sitting in a wheelchair under your vacuum in the Toronto Star.

I didn't want to call her bluff and lord knows how the media loves david and goliath stories. I sent one of our installers over to fix it.
The morale of the story is if you talk to the right person, they usually see the bigger picture and will take care of you.

If I was Epps, I would not only refunded your money, but look everywhere in the country to find you the firearm you thought you were getting. Get it to you and give you a 10% discount on top of it. Just imagine how far that story would go out here to further their business rather that this one.
