So I buy an STI Trojan Lite from these guys, a 9mm 1911 standard 1911. Get the firearm and it seems pretty nice although it has a plastic trigger and plastic rear sight or so it seems..Grips are plastic or really thin wood...haven't taken it apart to check...First impression is it's not worth 1200.00 bucks...So then I'm optimistic thinking well the reviews I've read have all been really good expecially for accuracy..So decided to take down and clean..Well they gave me the take down wrench and guess what no matter what I do the bushing won't turn...Give up as it was time for me to go to work. Next day I call the business where I purchased the gun and explain to the gent my issues...He sends me a 4 pic explanation how to take down a 1911...I've got a Smith E series, I don't need someone telling me how to take down a 1911. So I figure out on my own that the guide rod is too long and so is the plug and that's why the bushing won't turn because the rod is too high..So I decided to file the rod down and lo and behold it works. I can now use the wrench and everything is hunky dory...Call the business and tell them that I fixed it however because the gun had a defective part I'd like them to send me a new rod and plug on the house as an example of good customer service...Guy tells me he'd check with his boss...Next day guy tells me his boss says no go won't send me a replacement for free but will send me the parts at cost...I am pretty pissed at this having spent 1400.00 after taxes and shipping and I tell the guy nope and I won't be doing business with them again...I had planned on spending perhaps another 500.00 for enhancements with this gun and this owner wouldn't give me 60.00 replacements...So today I bought a new STI plug and guide rod from Brownells for less than I would have paid from Freedom Ventures. And all of my mags and enhancements I buy will be from anyone but Freedom Ventures...I will never deal with this Company again...Too bad it could have been a good relationship..That Devon guy although a little flip seemed ok. Other than that I guess this is lesson learned. Be careful with some sponsors on CGN

So, just to recap. The gun had a part that was out of spec. So you filed down the part, and they wouldn't replace it. And you're angry.

Do you think that filing down that part might have been the reason they wouldn't give you a replacement? I'm not aware of any company that will replace a part that you have filed down - they'll replace the part, but not once it's been tampered with. Pretty much standard policy for pretty much every company. Incidentally, the whole "show me your good customer service" thing, that's never likely to work, it's sort of extortion, and no one likes it.

Not a grown up approach. It was a manufacturer fault and you DEMAND the retailer eat the cost? Not fair to ask of them, as their only mistake would have been selling you the product you wanted. You can't warranty parts you've altered, because then your not able to provide proof, and are just some guy demanding stuff. Learn from this experience and your buying experiences will improve. Just shoot the gun and enjoy it.
